Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
The Consumer Marketing Director’s responsibility is to lead the development and execution of the consumer strategy for the Rheumatology SpA indications (PsA, AS, nr-axSpA, Jpsa). Success will be measured by impact on both sales and contribution of key consumer investments on the IBT’s P&L.
- Create a positive culture, set a tone of ownership and accountability, and have a people development mindset. Be an active voice in the IBT and embody the AbbVie ways of working.
- Understand overall business trends, the competitive environment, and articulate consumer strategies that are integrated within the overall business and competitive context. Demonstrate ownership of strategic planning process and, in collaboration with the IBT Leadership Team, develop the vision, strategy, and financials of the business plan.
- Leads the team in prioritizing and executing integrated marketing tactics that are anchored in consumer insight, aligned to brand strategies and measurable.
- Fosters innovation of the team, proactively sharing learnings with other teams (Therapeutic Franchise, Consumer Immunology). Lead initiatives that seek synergies and innovation across IBT’s and Consumer Immunology (pan-Rheum integration, launch best practices, Adobe capabilities, SEO/SEM, etc.).
- Responsible for consumer agency management across the Rheumatology Franchise. Accountable for continuing to build a strong and collaborative partnership with agency partners in delivering breakthrough creative (as measured by copy testing research and in-market performance) for key integrated multi-channel campaigns (broadcast, digital, social, content marketing).
- Partners with SKYRIZI Derm Consumer team to ensure SKY PsA-R interests are represented in consumer strategies and tactics.
- Provide direction, input and feedback to the Media Team on media strategies and plans. Teach direct reports about media planning and strategy so they can further develop their skills in this area.
Additional Key Activities:
- Work with APEX, CI and other groups to monitor the competitive landscape to uncover and/or validate activating consumer insight(s) that can unlock strategic opportunities across the Rheum portfolio.
- Further develop marketing and leadership capabilities across the Rheum Consumer Team. Contribute to the capabilities development across Consumer Immunology.
- Drive long term evolution and sustainability of each asset’s positioning. Lead the team in the ability to translate positioning into compelling strategies, tactics and communications.
- In collaboration with APEX and Media team, determine channel allocation for consumer campaigns.
- Responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies and procedures.
Accountability & Scope:
The incumbent works closely with brand teams (Rheum HCP Directors, RA/GCA/SLE Consumer Director, SKY Derm Consumer team, Immunology Consumer Marketing) outside agencies, third party partners, and internal functions (e.g., Media, Market Research, OEC, Legal, Medical Affairs, Regulatory Affairs, etc.).
Qualifications
Basic: BA, BS degree required or equivalent experience.
Preferred: Master's degree in business preferred.
Key AbbVie Competencies:
10+ years marketing experience required, 5 of which must be specific to healthcare, minimum 3 years in management.
Must exhibit proficiency commensurate with grade in the following competencies: leadership, technical marketing, business/financial acumen, strategic thinking and agility, teamwork, initiative, innovation, integrity, and communication.
