Job Description
The Omnichannel Director will report to the Lead Director, Brand Excellence, and be responsible for developing curriculum, content, and ongoing marketer engagement to enable AbbVie’s vision for transforming our marketing operating model. This role equips US Commercial Marketing teams and cross-functional partners with critical skills, new resources, and subject matter expertise.
As a strategic leader, you will shape how our brands engage customers, align with business goals, and partner with AbbVie’s International Brand Excellence team to inform and exchange best practices. You will foster enterprise-level thinking and partner with Medical (MHI) to support the evolution of omnichannel capabilities. As this end-to-end model expands, you will play a pivotal role in the development and coordination of training and skills needed for this new way of working.
Your role requires strong partnership with brand leaders and cross-functional teams to strengthen AbbVie’s brand presence by ensuring data-driven, digital, and personal connections are central to our customer engagement strategies. You will support innovation, collaboratively build new strategic capabilities, and interface regularly with Commercial, Therapeutic, and International partners to promote best-in-class, integrated solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Lead change management and curriculum development for US Brand Marketing, Digital Lab, and APEX partner teams to support new customer engagement capabilities in how we connect with customers (HCPs, Patients, Consumers) across an integrated ecosystem of channels.
- Develop frameworks and training that enhance cross-channel customer engagement, encouraging innovative, enterprise-level thinking.
- Serve as a connector between US and international marketing teams to exchange learnings, harmonize approaches, and facilitate the adoption of best-in-class omni-channel marketing, without direct ownership of global outputs.
- Build productive relationships with leaders in commercial marketing, therapeutic areas, and cross-functional teams—ensuring alignment and momentum.
- Engage and influence without authority with BU leadership and Brand VPs.
- Model strong collaboration skills and proactive coordination with Medical (MHI) to ensure alignment with Medical engagement.
- Regularly assess, report, and enhance engagement strategies, identifying opportunities for capability-building, innovation, and broader enterprise impact.
Qualifications
- B.A./B.S. in Marketing, Communications, Advertising, or Business (advanced degree a plus).
- 12+ years of experience in marketing, advertising, CRM, or related fields, including 5+ years in the pharmaceutical industry (preferred).
- Proven experience driving results in marketing, with high proficiency across digital, data-driven, and integrated marketing communications.
- Experience collaborating with global or international marketing teams and contributing to capability scaling across markets, ideally in a matrixed environment.
- Demonstrated ability to foster innovation and support new capability-building across markets and functions.
- History of participating in and supporting strategic initiatives at an enterprise or global level.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills with an ability to influence, collaborate and gain alignment across senior leadership and diverse regions.
- Strong executive presence and relationship-building skills with senior commercial, therapeutic, and global executives.
- Self-starter recognized for driving change, fostering collaboration, and enabling innovation and new ways of working.
- Track record of project and stakeholder management, with exceptional follow-through and improvement mindset.
- Experience partnering with AbbVie’s Medical & Health Impact organization.
- Deep understanding of AbbVie’s Digital Lab capabilities, data infrastructure, and marketing competencies, with experience orchestrating cross-channel customer engagement.
