Job Description

The Transportation Specialist will be responsible for operational transactions to support import and exports for the shipping and receiving sites within AbbVie’s GDL or IME network.  This role will need to work with internal stakeholders upstream and downstream in the process to ensure timely and successful shipping execution.  Also, the coordinator will be accountable for the settings within SAP which control the selection of routings and transportation service providers (TSPs) for shipments from the shipping locations. Vendor relationship management is required to ensure TSPs are meeting performance standards from forecasting, booking, in-transit, and freight payment requirements and milestones. TOA needs to work with Abbvie QA and TSPs to drive TSP SOP creation meeting AbbVie’s standards and ensure GDPs are being met.  This individual will capture data from bookings, packaging, and freight data; will be responsible for reviewing temperature data; and following up with forwarders on CAPAs. Continuous improvement projects related to forwarder routings, lane and packaging qualifications, and improvements to the visibility of shipments and data.  He or She will be responsible for investigations and reporting of complaints, including damages/loss, shortages, and late shipments.  Coordinator will have responsibilities supporting other team members with projects, efficiencies, inbound shipments, SAP knowledge transfer and support.  Finally, the Coordinator will be responsible to weekly, monthly, or quarterly transportation reports and dashboards

Responsibilities

  • Daily contact with one or Multiple (internal/external) DC or IME locations coordinating importing or exporting of pharmaceutical finished product, bulk, active pharmaceutical ingredient or supporting Materials.
  • Coordinate and process import and export shipments.  Drive compliance with the export Target Operating Model and perform transactional activities in SAP to support efficient export processing.
  • Ensure SAP and JDA are kept up to date with the latest info and customers are informed in a timely manner.  Responsible for Route and Mode of Transport master data default settings.
  • Participate in Logistics Service Providers (LAP) meetings to review and improve performance. Initiating LSP damage/loss investigations and driving corrective and preventative action (CAPA) plans.
  • Manages stakeholder relationships and expectations.
  • Drive continuous improvement and participate in continuous improvement initiatives led by colleagues.
  • Offering innovative ideas and solutions to maximize business opportunities to address challenges in the transportation specialist function.
  • Creates impact with ideas for the larger organization and anticipates and responds to changes.
  • Influences others and is viewed as a credible and respected role model (coach/mentor) and resource among peers for onboarding/training new employees.
  • Act as a project lead for projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor or Master degree required, preferably in Operations, Supply Chain or Business Management.
  • 3 years’ work experience in a similar environment is preferred.
  • Must be experience with ERP systems, preferably SAP.
  • Be a team player with focus on improvement and strong drive for results.
  • Must possess good analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and oral English communication skills are required.
  • Excellent organizational skills are required.
  • Proven strong problem solving, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to step up and take leadership to own challenges.
  • Persistent and resilient when confronted with obstacles and resolves issues in a timely manner.
