Job Description

The Senior Tax Analyst, State and Local Tax will join the Corporate Tax Department and play an important role within the Domestic Tax Operations team.  This position will primarily be responsible for supporting the state and local income tax compliance and tax provision for AbbVie’s U.S. operations.  In addition, the Senior Tax Analyst will assist with complex projects and strategic initiatives. 

Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of US state and local income/franchise tax returns, including preparation of apportionment, tax computations such as tax credits and state modifications, accompanying statements, supporting schedules and documentation.
  • Assist with preparation of state and local aspects of the US GAAP tax provision, analysis of tax accounts and reserves, and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.
  • Collaborate with tax team members and business team members to determine tax impacts of changing business operations. Demonstrate effective communication and teamwork skills through collaboration with tax team members, escalation of issues appropriately, and sharing results with team members and leadership. 
  • Monitor changes in U.S. tax legislation.  Quantify and model the impact of tax planning strategies and legislative and regulatory developments.
  • Assist with special projects, including planning initiatives, process improvements, IDR responses and other audit support, and tax technology implementation.

Qualifications

  • B.A./B.S. in Accounting/Finance required. CPA or MST a plus.
  • 3+ Years related experience beyond the degree or Masters plus related experience.
  • Large corporate multinational tax experience preferred, but not required.
  • Experience in data analytics systtems desirable (Alteryx, Power Query, Power BI).
  • Proficiency in Excel.
  • Experience in Corptax and/or Longview (or other tax provision software) preferred.
