Job Description
The Marketing Manager US Eye Care, OTC will create and develop analysis & recommendations based on several different business needs for AbbVie’s Eye Care Consumer Products. They will partner with marketing, analytics & finance counterparts to assist the brand and trade teams in the execution of marketing strategies and tactics to drive growth for the business. They will provide support to the brand and trade teams in the monthly and ad hoc needs of AbbVie’s commercial cycle (e.g., LRP, SP2, LBE, GtN, Deductions Reconciliation, etc.). They will derive findings and implications from multiple data platforms to strengthen commercial understanding of brand performance, marketplace dynamics and growth opportunities; inform financial forecasting and brand planning processes; and develop fact-based marketing and sales investment strategies to optimize performance. The individual has demonstrated the ability to align business issues with business/promotional analysis and to determine tactical implications with some supervision and is a highly effective communicator of results.
This role requires strong collaboration within the US Eye Care organization and broader AbbVie stakeholders. Internal partners can include but are not limited to Finance, Marketing Analytics & Business Insights team, Commercial Brand HCP, Digital, & Consumer Marketing teams, Sales, Key Accounts, Trade, E-Commerce, Regulatory, Legal, Medical, and Agencies.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Supports the management of the OTC marketing budget while identifying efficiencies/synergies where possible to maximize resources
- Provides monthly gross-to-net tracking to trade and marketing leaders to understand customer promotion planning and execution to deliver forecasted revenue
- Work with both the brand and trade teams to track performance and provide leadership updates on sales and shipments by customer (at the brand and SKU level)
- Assists Head of Sales and Head of Marketing with independent annual planning processes via coordination, consolidation and tracking of customer/brand team plans
- Works with Customer Service to understand DTP customer credentialing, ordering patterns and inventory management issues
- Partner with the Marketing Analytics & Business Insights team to evaluate the effectiveness of marketing strategies by establishing learning agendas/measurement plans, understanding insights, and formulating recommendations for changes to non-personal promotional, and tactical plans for field-facing resources.
- Partner with MABI to Develop KPI dashboard automation to ensure tracking of national and sub-national performance utilizing various data sets.
- Utilize KPI dashboards to Monitor and analyze all sources of company and industry sales and marketing data to evaluate the effectiveness of marketing strategies and formulate recommendations for optimizations.
- Participate in cross-functional teams and develop effective working relationships with salesforce, key physicians, brand teams, and executive leadership. Stay abreast of industry trends in artificial tears, anterior segment, and eyecare.
- Conduct routine field travel with the sales force and trade sales to better understand market drivers and dynamics
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in a technical discipline field required; MBA or other advanced degree in social science, life sciences, or related area is desired
- Minimum 3+ years of professional analytical experience (pharma, device, OTC or FMCG preferred)
- Knowledge of health care and/or pharmaceutical industry preferred (not mandatory)
Essential Skills, and Competencies
- Must have a high level of competency with Microsoft Excel
- Ability to analyze difficult, complex situations, understand the details, and not get lost in them
- Financial/budgetary experience preferred
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with an ability to make effective presentations to customers, sales team, and senior management
- Ability to appropriately prioritize and execute multiple critical issues
- Strong interpersonal skills, managing multiple stakeholders in a changing and flexible environment
