Job Description
Biologics Drug Product Development Intern Overview
Envision spending your summer working with energetic colleagues and inspirational leaders, all while gaining world-class experience in one of the most dynamic organizations in the pharmaceutical industry. This is a reality for AbbVie Interns.
This internship project involves the comprehensive characterization of surfactants to evaluate their potential for stabilizing ultra-low-concentration protein formulations. The candidate will analyze the solubility behavior and stability of selected surfactants, focusing on their suitability as excipients in biological formulations.
This internship will be based in Irvine, CA.
Key responsibilities include:
- Characterization Studies: Conduct studies on protein-protein or protein-excipient interactions
- Analytical Techniques: Utilize various analytical methods, including high-performance liquid chromatography (SEC, RP, CEX), fluorescence-based spectrophotometry (fluorescence anisotropy), qELISA, and SPR.
- Data Analysis & Reporting: Analyze experimental data to draw meaningful conclusions about protein-protein or protein-excipient interaction, contributing to the project objectives.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in university, pursuing a PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or other related field.
- Must be enrolled in university for at least one semester following the internship.
- Familiar with the mentioned analytical techniques and possess a keen interest in biological formulation development.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Expected graduation date between December 2025 – July 2026.
- Exposure to HPLC and SPR is highly desirable.
