Job Description

Responsible for the facilitation, completion and implementation of process improvement initiatives that support the organizations strategic objectives. The Senior Project Specialist - Strategic Initiatives will provide project management support to members participating in cross-functional process improvement initiatives to ensure projects are executed per timelines. The Senior Project Specialist - Strategic Initiatives will be aware of both internal and external business environments and he/she will assess impact on the process improvement initiatives and proactively identify trends. She/he will escalate significant issues to management and identify performance and resource gaps relative to process improvement initiatives, adoption of best practices, recommend corrective actions. Independently takes initiative to resolve problems and mitigate risks. Partners with more senior PM roles to deliver large highly complex projects and she/he would own project in larger portfolio.

  1. This position is responsible for the execution of cross functional process improvement initiatives; ensuring projects are executed per timelines and support the organizations strategic objectives.
  2. Uses process improvement methodologies and techniques, governance structure, project management structure and progress reporting to enable cross-functional teams to successfully complete a project.
  3. Develop and assess integrated project plans, resource projections, risk plans, and effectiveness metrics for each initiative.
  4. Accountable for helping team navigate the change management process effectively and efficiently
  5. Effectively communicates project progress/ concerns and actively identifies issues that potentially impact project completion and identify potential interventions or solutions to manage the issues.
  6. This position is responsible for problem solving, risk mitigation and contingency planning at a global Development level.
  7. Assesses potential impact of non-streamlined processes on cost, compliance and re-work activities.
  8. This position will report into a director level and will have responsibility for providing project management support to their assigned team(s).

Qualifications

  • Minimum Education:   Bachelor’s degree (or ex-US equivalent) is required, typically in scientific field. An Associate’s degree/R.N. (or ex-US equivalent) with relevant experience is acceptable.
  • Minimum Experience / Training Required: 3+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry in a variety of roles associated with drug development (R&D, commercial, project management, operations) Minimum of 2 years supporting cross-functional teams in a core function (Program Management, Development, Regulatory, Operations)
  • Developing leadership skills
  • Good communication skills both written and oral
  • Strong project management experience in the pharmaceutical industry
  • Preferred Experience with both global and regional teams in the pharmaceutical industry
  • Demonstration of project managing global teams, PMP, Change management, Lean Six Sigma or process improvement experience desirable
