Job Description

We are looking for a Senior Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer to join our team in Sligo. This position reports to our Engineering Services Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing support to all electrical activities and assigned multi-disciplinary projects at AbbVie.

You will be controlling and monitoring all site electrical utilities and actively participating in energy reduction at AbbVie.  Your role will involve maximising the performance of process and utility equipment. You will have the opportunity to work on/Lead multiple projects including Site electrical infrastructure upgrades, renewable energy and solar power.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Ensure safety standards are achieved and safe working practices are followed.
  • Subject Matter Expert for Electrical and Instrumentation systems onsite.
  • Ensure the maintenance program is in place, maintained and executed for E+I Systems onsite.
  • Electrical technical support engineer for various electrical elements of projects executed on site.
  • Develop project documents, scope of works, user requirements specifications, work breakdown structure, project schedules, project budget tracking, project monitoring and control.
  • Hold regular Electrical project meetings with Contractors.  
  • Reporting of Electrical projects to key stakeholders.
  • Follow all corporate guidelines for electrical/ instrument specifications, mechanical, civil installation activities, and commissioning.
  • Lead monthly reviews for electrical PMs carried on site & ensure FM contract requirements are met.
  • Active participation in the AbbVie energy team, project manage energy projects life cycle, engage in Energy reduction through procurement, project definition & reduction suggestions.
  • Review and approve site electrical permits ensuring work is completed meeting all safety requirements and according to Electrical regulations.
  • Lead reviews of maintenance reports in relation to the following systems and follow up to ensure repairs are completed and systems remain within compliance with European electrical standard requirements.
  • Directly manage the site “Electrical infrastructure program” and external resources

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Electrical or Mechatronic Engineering or National Craft Certificate in Electrical Engineering with relevant experience.
  • 10+ years experience in the electrical field
  • Proven ability to solve problems under pressure.
  • Strong relationship building skills.
  • Project management experience with the ability to ensure that schedule, quality, cost and safety requirements are achieved.  
  • Experience of Medium Voltage is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of Medium Voltage is essential.
