Job Description
We are looking for a compassionate and organised Dental Assistant to join our team on a fixed-term basis to cover maternity leave. This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of a supportive practice where you'll play an important role in delivering exceptional patient care while supporting our clinicians in a busy and rewarding environment.
How you'll make an impact
As a Dental Assistant, you'll work closely with our clinicians to ensure each patient receives outstanding care in a comfortable and welcoming environment. You'll provide efficient chairside assistance during a variety of dental procedures while helping to keep the practice running smoothly behind the scenes.
You'll prepare and maintain treatment rooms, sterilise instruments in line with infection control standards, and ensure equipment is ready for each appointment. You'll also support front-of-house activities when needed, assisting with patient enquiries, appointment coordination, and maintaining accurate patient records.
Your attention to detail, positive attitude, and commitment to delivering an excellent patient experience will help create a seamless journey for every patient who walks through our doors.
Qualifications
What we're looking for:
- Previous experience as a Dental Assistant or in a similar healthcare support role.
- Knowledge of dental procedures, terminology, and infection control protocols.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a genuine passion for patient care.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a busy environment.
- Confidence using technology and dental practice management systems.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a close-knit team.
- Current dental radiography certification is preferred but not essential.
- Flexibility, reliability, and a positive, can-do attitude.
- Valid New Zealand work rights and the ability to work in Pukekohe.
Additional Information
This is a fixed-term position from 22 September 2026 until 7 July 2027, providing maternity leave cover.
Hours of work:
- Tuesday – Thursday: 8:30am – 2:45pm (30-minute lunch break)
- Friday: 8:30am – 1:15pm (30-minute lunch break)
