Job Description

Field Trainer will provide leadership and guidance within team to achieve organization and project goals, work in collaboration with the Facility Management team to support AWP’s core values and mission to protect our customers’ people, business, and time. This person conducts recurrent training for new hires and current employees at the facility as required.  Coordinates projects, including providing updates on all facility assets, within the department and with external clients to achieve a successful result.  This position performs site inspections to ensure safe work practices are being utilized and work zones are installed in accordance with Company, Local, State, and Federal regulations. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain traffic control, safety, supervisor, and instructor credentials
  • Conduct new hire and recurrent training for employees
  • Conduct multiple job site visits per day/week utilizing an inspection checklist to ensure that traffic control employees are working safely and provide these employees with necessary breaks, work zones are installed correctly, and cultivate positive relationships with customers
  • Ensure company safety and compliance requirements are being met as it relates to the facility
  • Protect the company’s employees, customers and assets against losses, injuries and accidents through enforcement of safe work practices
  • Prevent accidents and other safety exposures by investigating, identifying causes and developing preventative measures and practices
  • Track the usage of assets, employees, and time for projects
  • Coach and engage employees in traffic control standards and company policies to ensure safe and compliant work zones
  • Provide meaningful input to both employees and management as it relates to an employee’s job performance, safety, compliance, and training based on first-hand observations, and if necessary facilitate disciplinary action
  • Facilitate team meetings
  • Attend and actively participate in customer safety, preconstruction and project meetings
  • Develop and maintain relationships with existing customers while on the job site conducting inspections and build new relationships to achieve goals
  • Ensure customer service issues are addressed promptly and efficiently while providing the highest level of customer service
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Positions within Florida require a minimum of two (2) years (4,000 hours) work zone temporary traffic control experience – Five (5) years (10,000 hours) experience preferred
  • Must have:
    • Passed ATSSA Flagger Training & Certification with a score > 90%
    • Passed ATSSA Traffic Control Technician Training with a score > 90%
    • Passed ATSSA Traffic Control Supervisor Training with a score > 90%
    • ATSSA Traffic Control Supervisor Certificate
  • 1+ years management experience preferred
  • Some teaching or presentation experience preferred
  • Strong leadership, communication and coaching skills
  • Excellent verbal and nonverbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to complete detailed paperwork
  • Ability to organize and analyze data used on a regular basis
  • Strong motivational and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrate team engagement and teambuilding techniques
  • Intermediate computer skills including Microsoft Office products and customer relationship management systems – specifically PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel
  • Must be able to follow safe workplace practices

Must maintain a current, valid driver’s license and a clean driving record void of suspension or revocation
 

Employee must be able to successfully handle the physical demands of this position, which include the following:

  • Hours of operation may vary due to staffing needs
  • 40-50 hour work week , occasional weekend and holidays
  • May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles
  • The position may work in outside conditions that include inclement weather, not limited to heat, cold, humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt
  • Frequent exposure to fumes or airborne particles from vehicle or equipment exhaust, moving vehicles and occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites
  • Noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud
  • Position lifts or carries objects up to 50 pounds
  • Stands for long periods of time and performs strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions; employee lifts, pushes, pulls or carries objects
  • Position requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination
