Job Description

The Operations Supervisor will provide leadership and implementation of core values and our overall mission of protecting our customers’ people, business and time. This position will be responsible for the management and ongoing development of employees at the facility/office.

The Operations Supervisor will lead safety initiatives by protecting employees, customers, and assets while also supervising and managing safe work environments and verifying customer needs are being met at the highest level of satisfaction. The management team at AWP is instrumental in achieving success through team building, recruitment strategies, and promoting ongoing relationships with both internal and external clients.

  • Support the Area Manager and General Manager in supervising your team of protectors.
  • Collaborate daily with all Area Staff, with a goal of Continuous Improvement in all functional areas of the business.
  • Positive, productive communication with peers. Work closely with each other to achieve excellent customer service. Report to Operations Manager daily.
  • Direct supervision for Field crews
  • Maintain Field/Office Responsibilities; 10% in Field and 90% in Office
  • Responsible for the delivery of complete and accurate work tickets to Dispatch as a confirmation of completion of work. Due by end of shift.
  • Responsible for the delivery of complete and accurate time sheets to Field Admin at the end of shift.
  • Ensure that safety, quality, training, employee engagement, and retention are a prime focus of the business.
  • Participate in New Hire Orientation to introduce and familiarize new hires with their supervision.
  • Protect the company’s employees, customers, and assets against losses, injuries, and accidents through enforcement of safe work practices.
  • Responsible for developing the knowledge and skills of a company's drivers and flaggers.
  • Assist Area Manager in addressing performance concerns with Drivers and flaggers.
  • Assist in resolving employee and customer concerns. Partner with Operations Manager and Area Manager for resolution.
  • Develop relationships with internal and external customers to achieve goals and new business opportunities.
  • Assist and support Account Managers with performing field inspections, attend pre-job meetings, meet with clients and work in the field with the team as needed
  • Ensure customer service issues are addressed promptly and efficiently while providing the highest level of customer service and staying in communication with Dispatch and the Account Manager
  • Assist in reviewing the daily schedules to ensure crews are on time to jobs.
  • Monitor daily employee issues including timekeeping, safety tailgates topics, customer issues, and training requirements.
  • Facilitate teambuilding efforts and regular communications with team members.
  • Engage and support the training of new and current employees to reduce turnover, promote efficiency and reduce labor costs.
  • Obtain ATSSA and state-specific certifications.
  • Become a subject matter expert in work zone setup/design and professional flagging.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED completion
  • 4-year degree in a business-related field is a plus but not required
  • 1-2 years of supervisor experience and building teams with 50+ individuals
  • Must be able to and enjoy connecting with field-level customers and contacts.
  • Excellent verbal and nonverbal communication skills
  • Excellent motivation and organizational skills.
  • Intermediate computer skills including Microsoft Office products and customer relationship management systems.
  • Microsoft Dynamics 365 experience preferred but not required.
  • Experience managing P&L.
  • Process Improvement – Lean Manufacturing/Six Sigma preferred.
  • Experience in Business Development – top & bottom line.
  • Significant experience developing high-performing teams.
  • The proactive approach to brand development.
  • Building strong customer relationships.
  •  Ability to develop and execute business plans.
  • Take the initiative to build work relationships with your team.
  • Contributes to the engagement and ongoing development of AWP Safety employees.
  • Must adhere to and promote safe workplace practices.
  • Must maintain a current, valid driver’s license and a clean driving record void of suspension or restrictions.

Additional Information

  • Hours of operation may vary due to staffing needs
  • 40–50-hour work week, occasional weekend and holidays
  • May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles
  • The position may work in outside conditions that include inclement weather, not limited to heat, cold, humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt
  • Frequent exposure to fumes or airborne particles from vehicle or equipment exhaust, moving vehicles and occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites
  • Noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud
  • Position lifts or carry objects up to 50 pounds
  • Stands for long periods of time and performs strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions; employee lifts, pushes, pulls or carries objects
  • Position requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination
