Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct fire safety studies and assessments for Nuclear Island buildings.
  • Analyse combustible materials and evaluate fire risks within designated plant areas.
  • Perform fire modelling and temperature evolution calculations using specialist software (e.g. MAGIC) to assess fire consequences and propagation risks.

  • Provide technical fire engineering support to systems, layout and design teams.
  • Support design modifications and assess their impact on existing fire studies and safety cases.
  • Undertake regulatory assessments relating to fire and life safety requirements.
  • Develop and recommend fire prevention and protection solutions.
  • Prepare and deliver technical reports and documentation in line with project quality standards and programme requirements.
  • Participate in technical committees, task forces and design reviews, representing the Fire Engineering and Nuclear Safety disciplines as required.

Qualifications

  • A degree in Fire Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience in fire safety engineering, risk assessment or safety case development within a highly regulated industry.
  • Knowledge of ETC-F (EPR Technical Code for Fire) would be appreciated.
  • Experience and knowledge of UK Fire Regulations including BS9999.
  • Ability to propose fire protection and detection solutions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex technical issues.
