Job Description

🚀 Join the Fusion and Modular Nuclear Business Unit! 🚀Reporting to the Layout Engineering Manager, the Senior Layout Integration Engineer will lead development of integrated plant layouts across Fusion and Modular Nuclear programmes.

The successful candidate will act as a technical focal point for major plant areas or work packages, leading multidisciplinary coordination activities, resolving interfaces and driving design maturity through engineering studies, design reviews and technical decision-making.

The Senior Layout Integration Engineer will be accountable for delivery of assigned layout work packages, ensuring technical quality, integration and programme commitments are achieved.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead plant layout development from concept through detailed design.
  • Lead development of equipment, piping, cable tray, access and maintenance arrangements.
  • Lead piping routing studies and layout optimisation activities.
  • Own delivery of assigned layout work packages and plant areas.
  • Manage requirements, assumptions, constraints and interfaces across assigned scope.
  • Coordinate interfaces between systems, buildings, structures and supporting infrastructure.
  • Facilitate model reviews, layout reviews and multidisciplinary technical workshops.
  • Lead clash detection and interface management activities.
  • Support Human Factors, Fire, Architectural and Civil & Structural integration activities.
  • Ensure layout solutions satisfy system, operational, safety, construction and maintenance requirements.
  • Lead multidisciplinary activities to resolve requirements conflicts and integration challenges.
  • Author technical reports, optioneering studies, design philosophies and engineering recommendations.
  • Present and defend technical recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Support modularisation, transportation, lifting and construction assessments.
  • Mentor engineers and designers.
  • Support development of layout standards, methodologies and best practice.

Qualifications

Essential Skills, Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent industrial experience.
  • Significant experience in plant layout, piping layout, plant integration or multidisciplinary engineering delivery.
  • Experience leading plant area development and multidisciplinary coordination activities.
  • Experience facilitating design reviews, model reviews and technical workshops.
  • Experience using E3D, PDMS, Plant 3D, Siemens NX, Revit, Inventor or similar CAD/BIM platforms.
  • Experience using Navisworks or equivalent clash detection software.
  • Strong understanding of equipment arrangement, piping layout, constructability and plant integration.
  • Strong understanding of systems engineering principles, requirements management and interface management.
  • Experience supporting gated design review processes and technical governance activities.
  • Strong report writing, presentation and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to author, defend and implement technical recommendations.
  • SC Clearance or capable of achieving it.

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Experience within the nuclear, fusion, SMR or AMR sectors.
  • Experience leading major work packages or plant areas.
  • Experience supporting modularisation and construction studies.
  • Candidates able to demonstrate experience through technical leadership and delivery of complex engineering projects are encouraged to apply.
