ASSE was originally founded in Sweden, in 1938 by the Swedish national Ministry of Education. It sponsored exchange programs between Germany and Sweden. In the late 1940s, the program was expanded to include exchange programs with France, Great Britain and other countries in Europe. In March, of 1976, at the recommendation of the United States State Department, ASSE was incorporated as a not for profit organization in the US designated as a designated sponsor of secondary academic year programs with Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland. In the 1980s ASSE (originally ‘American Scandinavian Student Exchange’) expanded its exchange program countries to include most of ‘Western Europe’, Asia, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico and other Latin American countries.

Job Description

ASSE International – A non-profit student exchange program, is currently seeking Local Area Representatives in Washington to work with schools, churches, and your community, to find qualified host families for foreign exchange students. Our students come from 60 countries and area looking to experience life in America with families willing to open their hearts and homes to them.  You can make a world of difference in the lives of these teens!  This is a great job for retirees, teachers, stay-at-home moms or individuals just interested in making a little extra money.

Qualifications

Candidates must be at least 26 years of age and able to satisfactorily pass a background check. Candidates should have a personal computer and understand basic computer usage such as email, social networking.

Candidates should have excellent interpersonal skills and enjoy networking with professional organizations, school teachers, church leaders and other centers of influence in your community.

This is an independent contractor position and you are paid by commission only.
