Job Description

  • Administering and maintaining enterprise-class backup and restore solutions across on-premises and virtual environments, ensuring reliable data protection for all systems.
  • Implementing and managing disaster recovery solutions, including data replication and failover procedures, to meet defined recovery time and recovery point objectives.
  • Monitoring daily backup jobs (including those for cloud services and container platforms) for any issues, and performing prompt troubleshooting and root cause analysis to guarantee successful backup completion and rapid data restoration.
  • Tuning, optimizing, and planning capacity for backup infrastructure to maintain performance and accommodate data growth.
  • Applying updates and patches to backup, storage, and DR systems, ensuring platforms remain secure and fully supported.
  • Recommending and implementing backup best practices and security standards, while continuously improving data protection processes.
  • Updating technical documentation and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to backup and disaster recovery operations.
  • Following ITIL-aligned change management procedures for any system modifications, and contributing to incident and problem management processes as needed.
  • Providing 2nd-level support for backup and recovery issues, coordinating with 3rd-level support or vendor engineers for complex problem resolution, and collaborating with other IT teams to align backup & DR activities.

Qualifications

  • Excellent practical knowledge of enterprise backup/restore and disaster recovery solutions, with hands-on experience implementing and managing backup tools in large IT environments.
  • Solid understanding of virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware) and storage systems, and their integration with backup and recovery processes.
  • Experience with modern data protection scenarios, including backups for cloud/SaaS services (Microsoft 365) and container platforms (OpenShift), as well as data replication technologies (e.g., Zerto).
  • Experience working within ITIL-based processes (change, incident management), including use of ticketing systems and adherence to change control procedures.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex backup and restore issues, identify root causes, and optimize system performance for high reliability.
  • Ability to produce clear technical documentation (SOPs) and follow established backup/DR procedures.
  • Proactive attitude, strong organizational skills, and effective communication to collaborate in a team and adapt to fast-changing technologies.
  • Commvault or Veeam certification (non mandatory)
