Job Description

ARHS Digital is looking for a Big Data Architect to assist in a major data modernization & transformation program of one of its clients, a key player in the Belgian Telecom industry.

You will be part of the team modernizing the big data platform and migrating use cases from the Hortonworks big data platform to a new Cloudera on-premise platform. As part of the migration, lake will be preferred to isolated systems. The use cases in question are for User Experience Analytics and for handling master data and transactional data into domain-specific data marts.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Architecture design the to-be solution
    • Considering the client’s requirements, the as-is architecture, and the guidelines of the target data architecture, develop a solution blueprint for the to-be architecture and technology stack
    • As part of this design, outline the different options with pro’s & con’s and align with the teams on the recommended solution
    • Describe the solution meticulously so the data engineering team can start the detailed design and development
  • Support the data engineers
    • Data engineers will need further guidance during the development, (e.g., adaptation of the design is needed because of technical hurdles or other unexpected elements occurring during execution)

Qualifications

Your profile

  • University degree in computer science or equivalent
  • Able to work autonomously and manage the workload independently
  • Rapid self-starting capability and experience working in teams
  • Eager to learn new technologies & building up domain expertise
  • Good oral & written communication skills in English
  • Knowledge of Dutch and/or French would be considered an asset

Technical skills

  • 5 years of experience in architecture and engineering of big data solutions
  • Experience with Cloudera technology stack (HDFS, Hive, Spark, Atlas, Ranger, Kafka, Nifi, …)
  • Capability to document solutions with the right level of detail
  • Knowledge of the telecommunications environment is an advantage
