Job Description

We are looking for exceptionally ambitious and communicative hands-on individuals who are comfortable working with the Agile methodology as part of an interdisciplinary team, have experience working in fast-paced environments, and who have passion and skills to take our product offering to the next level.

In this role, you’ll work collaboratively with Software Engineering and Management to deploy and operate our systems; help automate and streamline our operations and processes; build and maintain tools for deployment, monitoring, and operations; and troubleshoot and resolve issues in our dev, test, and production environments.

Responsibilities

Network Infrastructure:

  • Install and manage networking functions for internal and external IT communications
  • Manage security and regulatory compliance
  • Provide remote access for network users, such as VPNs, two-factor authentication, etc.
  • Manage internal phone system
  • Oversee network health and alter network personnel with any issues

Computer Operations and Help Desk Area:

  • Manage the physical data center, including equipment locations, electricity, cooling, battery backups, etc.
  • Audit network configuration and security to report to outside institutions like corporate auditors, local and state regulatory bodies, business partners, etc.
  • Oversee backups and disaster recovery
  • Build and manage an internal IT infrastructure library
  • Manage the internal IT help desk
  • Create, authorize, and manage user roles

Service and Device Management:

  • Configure, maintain, upgrade, and patch network applications and infrastructure
  • Manage network and individual user storage to ensure proper disk, memory, backup, and archiving
  • Set up, update, and fix PCs and mobile devices for individual users
  • License and manage software as needed for user devices
  • Build and improve configuration and automation tools to remove manual steps in deploying, upgrading, and scaling systems and software across all environment
  • Support production web servers
  • Be a member of a scrum team(s) to ensure SRE concerns are addressed from the time a feature is designed through its deployment to production
  • Embed with specific development teams to ensure best practices are implemented
  • Maintain an active test environment
  • Improve predictability and reliability of software releases
  • Reduce application deployment windows by leading company towards a Continuous Deployment

Qualifications

  • Monitoring critical systems API response and uptime
  • Supporting production web servers
  • Maintaining an active test environment
  • Internal IT requirements of a small office using AD, WTS, Thin clients, Cloud CRM
  • Fluent in at least one scripting language in addition to Bash (Python/Perl/PHP/Ruby)
  • Linux (CentOS/RHEL/Amazon Linux) system engineering expertise
  • Have expert System Administration skills to assist in troubleshooting and diagnosing problems when they occur and trace the symptoms back to the root cause. Assist developers in debugging application issues using tools.
  • Support application deployments, building new systems and upgrading and patching existing ones through DevOps methodologies
  • Configuration management systems
  • Networking knowledge (AWS VPC experience is a plus)
  • High-availability approaches including load balancing, dynamic scaling, and capacity planning
  • Experience using metrics and monitoring to ensure customer SLA objectives are met
  • Excellent written communication, problem-solving, and process management skills
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced, evolving, growing, and dynamic environment
  • Experience with AWS, Azure, Server management, Mysql replications, Server backups
  • Database operations at scale (MySQL, MongoDB, Dynamo, RDS)
  • Operating in a developer-empowered environment where software delivery teams deploy and monitor their applications throughout the application lifecycle
  • Big data platforms such as Cloudera, Vertica, Hadoop, Amazon Redshift, or Elastic MapReduce is a plus
  • Experience with log aggregation and anomaly detection platforms such as Splunk, Sumologic, Graphite, CloudWatch, or ELK stack is a plus
