Job Description

Seeking an Project Engineer to come join our team in Broughton supporting a large‑scale manufacturing systems improvement programme involving SCADA upgrades, factory process optimisation, and LBIP‑aligned methodology. The work spans both remote engineering activity and onsite support within a high‑integrity production environment.

  • Location: Broughton

  • Experience Level: Junior - Mid 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage with operational teams to understand SCADA and process requirements
  • Review documentation, archive system information, and define upgrade needs
  • Write specifications for IT‑related components, tooling, and jigs
  • Manage suppliers: raise POs, track progress, oversee technical deliverables
  • Support commissioning and troubleshooting activities within factory environments
  • Coordinate project actions, chase updates, and ensure corrective work is completed
  • Contribute to LBIP methodology and continuous improvement initiatives

Qualifications

Required Skills:

  • SCADA systems experience — proven hands‑on work with industrial control or automation systems
  • Manufacturing or industrial environment background — experience working within factory, production, or high‑integrity operational settings
  • Technical specification writing — ability to produce clear, structured specs for tooling, jigs, IT components, or system changes
  • Supplier coordination — raising POs, managing deliverables, and overseeing external technical work
  • Documentation review — confident analysing existing system documentation, archives, and process materials
  • Commissioning support capability — able to work onsite to troubleshoot issues, validate fixes, and support deployment
  • Project coordination skills — action tracking, stakeholder alignment, and driving tasks to completion
  • Strong communication with operational teams — able to gather requirements directly from factory personnel and translate them into technical outputs

Required Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, or equivalent military experience.

Desirable Skills:

  • Industrial IT knowledge — understanding networks, servers, interfaces, and system architecture
  • LBIP or structured methodology familiarity — experience with lean‑based or structured improvement approaches
  • Automation or controls background — exposure to PLCs, HMIs, or related systems
  • Process optimisation experience — ability to identify inefficiencies and propose improvements
  • Stakeholder management — confident engaging with operations, engineering, and suppliers
  • Problem‑solving mindset — proactive, practical, and able to drive issues to closure
