Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Project Planner with a background in Mechanical or Electrical Equipment installation planning to support onsite construction activities within a major nuclear new build programme.

This is a highly operational planning role, working at the heart of site delivery to ensure installation activities are effectively coordinated, planned, and executed. You'll work closely with Construction Managers, Site Supervisors, Engineering, Quality, and Quantity Surveying teams to develop short-term installation plans, monitor daily production performance, and remove barriers to progress.

If you enjoy being visible onsite, solving problems in real time, and driving construction productivity through effective planning and coordination, we'd like to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

Planning & Coordination

  • Develop and manage the Shift S+1 Installation Plan in collaboration with Construction Management, Site Supervision, Quality, and Engineering teams.
  • Use Primavera P6 to support construction planning, scheduling, progress tracking, and forecasting activities.
  • Ensure installation plans consider material availability, approved work packs, workforce availability, and site constraints.
  • Lead Shift S+1 Validation Meetings and daily Shift Kick-Off Meetings.
  • Support the development and maintenance of the 16 Week Look Ahead (16WLA) schedule.
  • Produce contingency and alternative work plans to minimise the impact of site disruptions and unexpected blockers.

Site Delivery Support

  • Conduct regular site walkdowns to monitor installation progress and identify constraints affecting productivity.
  • Work closely with Construction Managers and Site Supervisors to resolve issues relating to access, materials, engineering queries, documentation, and resource availability.
  • Ensure delivery teams are working to approved plans and agreed priorities.
  • Maintain continuity of site activities through proactive planning and management of contingency work scopes.
  • Liaise with Site Engineering and Design teams to support the resolution of technical and field engineering issues.

Performance & Reporting

  • Monitor daily productivity and progress against planned activities.
  • Analyse planned versus actual performance and identify trends impacting delivery.
  • Track delays, lost time, and recurring blockers.
  • Support the identification and classification of internal and external constraints.
  • Work alongside Quantity Surveying teams to document external disruptions and support commercial assessments where required.
  • Lead the preparation of monthly construction progress reports, providing clear insight into site performance, risks, and opportunities.

Qualifications

Required Skills:

  • Proven experience in Project Planning, Installation Planning, Construction Coordination, or Site Production Planning.
  • Strong working knowledge of Primavera P6.
  • Experience supporting Mechanical and/or Electrical installation activities on major construction projects.
  • Demonstrable experience working within large-scale infrastructure, energy, industrial, defence, or nuclear projects.
  • Strong understanding of construction sequencing, site execution, and short-term work planning.
  • Ability to work effectively with construction, engineering, quality, and project teams to drive productivity and resolve issues.
  • Excellent communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, or equivalent military experience.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience working on nuclear new build projects
  • Familiarity with 16 Week Look Ahead planning (16WLA)
  • Experience within nuclear, energy, or other highly regulated environments
  • Experience supporting construction reporting and performance analysis
