Job Description

We are looking for a PFMEA Manufacturing Engineer to join our team in Broughton to support a major aerospace manufacturing programme. The role focuses on assessing the impact of switching to alternative consumable products—such as paints, sealants, and adhesives—and ensuring these changes do not disrupt production. You will review processes, identify risks, and help strengthen the paint shop and related operations so production remains stable, efficient, and robust.

  • Location: Broughton
  • On Site: 3x on site
  • Clearance: Not required
  • Experience Level: Junior - Mid

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead PFMEA sessions and produce high‑quality documentation aligned with internal standards.
  • Analyse the operational implications of product substitutions and recommend mitigation actions.
  • Interpret process flows to understand how material changes affect build sequence, takt time, and process robustness.
  • Support updates to software and systems used within operational booths.
  • Participate in shaping long‑term improvement plans for the paint shop and related processes.
  • Provide input into business cases and NPR‑level submissions.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, operations, and quality teams to ensure stable and efficient production processes.

Qualifications

Required Skills:

  • Strong experience creating and leading PFMEAs within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Solid understanding of production processes and how material changes affect build flow and cycle time.
  • Ability to analyse risks, identify downstream impacts, and propose practical mitigation actions.
  • Good knowledge of consumables such as paints, sealants, adhesives, or similar materials.
  • Confident communicator able to work with engineering, operations, and quality teams.
  • High attention to detail with the ability to produce clear, accurate documentation.

Required Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, or equivalent military experience.

Desirable Skills:

  • Background in process improvement, operational excellence, or continuous improvement.
  • Experience working in aerospace or another highly regulated manufacturing sector.
  • Familiarity with software or digital tools used in production booths or shop‑floor environments.
  • Exposure to long‑term capability planning or supporting business case submissions.
