Job Description
As a Radiation Protection Engineer, you will join Derby team to support our activities within the Nuclear sector.
This is a great opportunity to apply advanced nuclear physics knowledge in a high-impact, regulated environment, working closely with multidisciplinary teams on reactor systems, shielding design, and compliance with nuclear safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:
- Perform radiation transport analyses using Monte Carlo and deterministic methods
- Develop and validate shielding designs for nuclear systems and facilities
- Conduct dose rate calculations and radiation protection assessments
- Support ALARA evaluations and regulatory compliance analyses
- Perform neutron and gamma transport modeling for complex geometries
- Execute skyshine, streaming, and activation analyses
- Prepare technical reports and documentation for internal and regulatory review
- Interface with multidisciplinary engineering teams
Qualifications
Required Skills:
- Solid foundation in nuclear or radiation physics.
- Experience in radiation shielding, protection, or transport modelling.
- Hands-on experience with Monte Carlo simulation codes – ideally MCNP.
- Exposure to Attila4MC or similar deterministic transport software (a bonus).
- Familiarity with nuclear regulatory requirements and radiological safety standards.
- Strong communication skills and ability to document technical findings clearly.
Required Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Physics, Nuclear Engineering, or equivalent military experience.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience in nuclear, power generation, or other safety-critical industries
- Shielding design and optimization
