Job Description

What will you be doing? 

As a High Voltage Electronic Engineer, you will join our team in Chelmsford to support our activities within the Defence sector. 

Your main responsibilities will be: 

  • Designing circuits and sub-systems to meet customer requirements, ensuring a reliable, manufacturable product that aligns with cost targets.
  • Verify circuit and system designs through design simulations, practical testing, and relevant environmental testing.
  • Provide prompt, precise, and technically proficient solutions to resolve issues during development, production, and in-service stages.
  • Ensure design compliance with regulatory, legislative, environmental, and safety standards.
  • Oversees updates to product build standards after launch, driven by continuous improvement, obsolescence, or changes in legislation or regulation.
  • Identifies intellectual property and patent issues and opportunities, ensuring they are evaluated and drives the submission of claims as needed.
  • Conduct regular reviews of market trends and technological advancements to identify opportunities for new products and upgrades.
  • Collaborate with business leadership to develop these opportunities into future projects as appropriate.

Qualifications

Experience, skills and qualifications required: 

  • A Bachelor's or Master Degree in Electronic Engineering or similar. 
  • Prior experience in designing power electronic systems, such as Printed Circuit Boards (PCB), Switch Mode Power Supply (PSU), High-frequency digital and analogue circuits and similar
  • Skilled in designing electronic systems with a focus on reliability and Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF).
  • Experienced in analysing design failure mechanisms using DfMEA and FMECA methodologies.
  • Has demonstrated a clear understanding of electrical safety requirements and models safe working practices.
  • Knowledge of PCB layout tools, manufacturing techniques, as well as experience with schematic capture.
  • Ability to achieve Security Clearance.

Security Clearance:

  • Candidates must have lived in the UK for at least 5 years with no gaps of 3+ consecutive months to be eligible for security clearance.
