Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Human Resource Generalist performs duties in some or all of the following functional areas: benefits administration, employee relations, training, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment, affirmative action, employment law compliance and payroll functions. This position requires an extremely perceptive person who is capable of relating to individuals at all levels within the organization. The generalist must be sensitive to business needs and employee goodwill.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Provide support to employees and managers in the handling of all human resource related activities which may include: employee relations, fielding employee questions or concerns, communication and the interpretation of policies and procedures.

• Organize and manage new employee orientation, onboarding, and training programs.

• Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.

• Manage and assist with recruitment tasks (reviews applications, interviews).

• Maintain employee personnel files.

• Assist in performance management initiatives including annual reviews and performance improvement plans.

• Assist in the creation and refresh of company policies.

• Maintain compliance with federal, state and local employment regulations.

• Administers company-sponsored insurance and benefit programs, COBRA, disability and workers’ compensation in accordance with applicable policies and regulations. Communicates benefit information to employees and responds to questions.

• Processes and tracks Family Medical, personal and other leaves as required.

• Maintains and coordinates employee recognition programs.

• Payroll administration and auditing

• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree Human Resource Management or a related field, training and work experience.

• 3-5 years of HR experience.

• SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-SP) a plus.

• Proficient in Microsoft products.

• Experience with third party payroll services such as ADP.

• Knowledge and experience in employment, compensation and benefits, HRIS, compliance and policy development.

• Knowledge of Multi-state employment laws and best practices.

• Proactive, highly motivated, and results oriented.

• Enjoys working with people, understanding their needs, and solving their problems.

• Professional demeanor and a team player.
