Job Description

Responsible for the repair and maintenance of all pumps and other mechanical equipment
in hospital complex. Ensures that pumps, air compressors including central medicine plants
and security gate barriers in the hospital complex are always in good working condition.
Follows all hospital and department policies and procedures and international standards.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensures through his actions, either directly or indirectly, that a superior quality of medical
  • treatment, compassion and understanding is given to every patient served at the NMC
  • Hospitals and Clinics.
  • Conducts routine check-up of water pumps servicing 24 hours/day. (Re: domestic water
  • pumps, boiler pumps, treated water pumps, chilled water pumps, hot water pumps, all submersible pumps ) and some pumps with critical function like fire and jockey pumps.
  • This is documented and completed monthly.
  • Conducts routine check-up of , Compress Air And Vacuum Pump, irrigation pumps, air
  • blowers and submersible pump for irrigation system.
  • Conducts daily check-up on all other pumps and pressure reducing valves in water supply systems.
  • Conducts daily check-up on vacuum plant, medical and instrument air plant for hospital supply system.
  • Repairs all kinds/types of pumps including gauges and float switches of the water supply system and equipment for steam generation.
  • Reports immediately to the supervisor any abnormalities being observed in the equipment and informs any work alteration to be done.
  • Performs preventive and corrective maintenance work of pumps, medical and non-medical air compressors.
  • Ensures that sufficient stock of commonly used spare parts is readily available in the store.
  • Assists in the inspection and check-up of household appliances like gas oven etc., if required
  • Keeps all installation/equipment clean and tidy.
  • Conducts work in a professional manner and maintains patients/all confidential when required.
  • Participates in on-going education program developed by the department, e.g. Department Policy and Procedures, Fire Safety, Risk Management, Environmental control.
  •  Performs other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of the employee’s knowledge, skills and abilities.

Qualifications



A minimum of:

  • Technical School Graduate, a Mechanical Technology course is advantage.
  • University degree relevant to mechanical course is preferred.
  • Five (5) years experience in repair and maintenance of different kinds of mechanical
  • equipment commonly installed in the hospital complex.
  • Two (2) years experience in repair and overhauling of different types/sizes of pumps including submersibles.
  • Mechanical diagnosis skills and knowledge in electrical wiring termination.
  • Fluency in verbal and written English.
  • Exhibits professionalism and excellent interpersonal communication skills.
