Currently seeking a Guidance Counselor for the AHRC Middle/HS in Dyker Heights.

Role Description:
- Full Time | Monday-Friday
- Hours: 8:00 A.M-4:00 P.M
- 10 month program with a 30 day session
- Interviews families; conducts/reviews social case histories.
- Provides direct support service to individual students, small groups and classrooms; provides counseling services as mandated.
- Treats psychological disorders and adaptive delays to effect improvement and provides counseling to students and/or families.
- Collaborates with interdisciplinary and child/student study teams in developing treatment programs for students.
- Provides in-service training and workshops for staff and for families.
- Provides counseling for families.
- Collaborates in the integration of transition activities and development of transition goals.
- Refer individuals/families to appropriate resources for needed services and post-secondary options
- Performs all duties necessary for compliance and relevant regulations governing service provision, including record-keeping.
- If bi-lingual, must be able to translate, write reports, and speak fluently with parents and/or students in their preferred language.
- Member of various department wide education and / or agency committees.
- Provides services to students in a legal and ethical manner.
Annual Salary: $79,760-$81,946
Salaries commensurate with years of experience.
Qualifications
- NYS Certification Pupil Personnel Services –Guidance Counselor
- Ability to work effectively with staff and students with developmental disabilities.
- Knowledge of developmental disabilities and appropriate therapeutic intervention techniques.
- Ability to communicate and develop cooperative working relationships with staff, families and other agencies.
- Ability to establish and maintain statistical and data records pertaining to stated responsibilities
