Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented Cost Estimator with strong process engineering knowledge, specifically experienced in Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) projects. The ideal candidate will possess 5 to 8 years of relevant experience, proficiency in AACE Class 2 estimating standards, and expertise in Financial Modeling (FM), Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), and developing robust Excel/VBA-based cost estimation models.
Qualifications
Key Responsibilities:
- Cost Estimation & Analysis:
- Perform detailed Class 2 cost estimates compliant with AACE standards specifically for FEED projects.
- Prepare accurate, detailed estimates using semi-detailed unit costs and assembly-level line items.
- Analyze project documentation including technical drawings, process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and specifications to determine accurate cost parameters.
- Process Engineering Integration:
- Work closely with process engineering teams to ensure accurate integration of engineering designs and process requirements into cost estimates.
- Interpret complex engineering documents and translate them effectively into cost data.
- Financial Modeling (FM) and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA):
- Develop comprehensive Financial Models to evaluate project viability, profitability, and sensitivity analysis.
- Conduct Life Cycle Assessments to forecast CAPEX and OPEX accurately over the project's lifetime, including maintenance and operational cost projections.
- Excel/VBA Model Development:
- Design, develop, and maintain cost estimation models using advanced Excel functionalities and VBA macros for automation.
- Continuously improve existing cost estimation tools and models for accuracy, usability, and efficiency.
- CAPEX and OPEX Reporting:
- Generate clear, concise, and detailed CAPEX and OPEX reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide insights into potential cost reduction opportunities and risks.
- Benchmarking and Database Management:
- Develop and maintain benchmarking databases using historical and industry data to enhance estimation accuracy.
- Ensure data consistency and transparency in cost estimation documentation.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate closely with project management, engineering, finance, and other stakeholders to validate assumptions and align on cost expectations.
- Clearly communicate estimate outcomes, risks, and financial insights to project teams and management.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Chemical, Engineering) with MBA, or a relevant field.
- 5 to 8 years of cost estimation experience, particularly in FEED stage of process engineering projects.
- Proven expertise with AACE Class 2 cost estimating standards.
- Experience in Financial Modeling (FM) and conducting Life Cycle Assessments (LCA).
- Proficiency in advanced Excel, VBA scripting, and cost estimation software.
Skills and Competencies:
- Excellent analytical, numerical, and financial skills.
- Strong understanding of process engineering fundamentals.
- Exceptional proficiency in Excel-based modeling, VBA macros, and automation.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience in Oil & Gas, Energy, LNG, or related industrial sectors.
- Familiarity with project control and management tools.
- Certifications in Cost Estimation or relevant project management credentials.
