Job Description

Do you want to do your thesis project in the field of wireless robust mobile satellite communication?

AFRY designs and develops secure, robust networks and communication solutions for both commercial and society critical operations, contributing to Sweden's security and defense capabilities. Robust communication refers to communication that can withstand intentional or unintentional disruptions of various kinds. This can include resilience against technical failures, natural disasters, signal interference, or cyber threats. Desired robustness can be achieved by incorporating redundancy, alternative communication paths, performance optimization strategies, interference elimination techniques, or intelligent decision support.

"We are looking for students planning to conduct their thesis work in spring 2024 and that are pursuing a master’s degree in engineering physics, Electrical Engineering, Sociotechnical Systems Engineering, IT, or equivalent. The thesis project in robust mobile satellite communication is suitable for those with an interest in one or more of the following areas:"

  • Wireless communication (with a focus on mobile systems)
  • Antenna technology
  • Software-defined radio
  • Adaptive signal processing
  • AI & Data Engineering
  • Embedded systems

Possible topics or projects:

Our proposed thesis project is titled "Robust Mobile Satellite Communication."

The thesis work will involve a balanced mix of research, theory, analysis, modeling and simulations, as well as testing the concept of maintaining a robust link in the presence of disruptions in selected scenarios. Opportunities and limitations of selected methods are desired to be illuminated. The idea is for the thesis project to take both a holistic approach to the system and delve deeper into selected areas in consultation with the supervisor.

"This thesis work will be conducted by a single student, in collaboration with another student who has already been selected. Support will be provided by a team of various experts, with an officially assigned supervisor."

Start in late January 2024, with completion in the spring (equivalent to 30 “hp” credits). The thesis work will be carried out at our office in Uppsala.

Qualifications

"You are in the final stages of your master’s program in Engineering Physics, Electrical Engineering, Sociotechnical Systems Engineering, IT, or equivalent. You have an interest in one or more of the areas mentioned above and are eager to become acquainted with a large international technology and design company."

Please send a personal letter describing who you are and why you are suitable for a thesis project at AFRY, along with your CV.
