 AFRY´s business area Food & Pharma have approximately 500 team members who are involved in projects and assignments within the Food and Life Science Industry. We have offices in Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Estonia and Switzerland. Our business model is to maintain and develop our consulting service which is delivered on a project basis as well as turnkey solutions. Our projects involve the entire process from the blueprinting phase through design, execution, and validation. Our business segment is characterized by extensive industry experience and competence within project management, process design, quality assurance among other areas of expertise.  Food & Pharma is a part of Industrial Digital Solutions, one of 6 divisions within AFRY and is a leading player within our industry.  

Job Description

In the role as our VP and Head of BA Food & Pharma, you will be managing the Business Area (BA) and you will be a member of the divisional management team. This position involves full responsibility for the financial result of the BA. You will actively contribute to the development of the divisional strategy and developing a BA business plan in line with the divisional strategy. You will drive the strategic market and business development activities. Furthermore, you will collaborate actively with BA- and BU Managers in all divisions to ensure the customers and AFRY’s best interest in all situations and decisions. You will be reporting to EVP and Head of Division Industrial & Digital Solutions. The location for this role can be either in Stockholm, Gothenburg or Malmö.  

Your overall responsibilities: 

  • Responsible for defining a BA strategy, business plan and budget (which needs to be in line with the divisional strategy) and for delivering and following up on these 
  • Contribute to the development of the divisional strategy 
  • Lead and develop the BA Management team 

Market and Sales 

  • Leading market and business development activities (e.g., analyze market trends, define focus for market and sales activities, define pricing strategies etc.), internationally as well as on core markets. 
  • Drive and manage C-level customer dialogues.  
  • Drive business model transformation by leading and contributing to the development of higher value add concepts and solutions, both within the own BA and across BAs 

Operations and People 

  • Act as a role model demonstrating the AFRY core values (brave, devoted team player) 
  • Accountable for successful projects and solution delivery 
  • Responsible for defining a ‘people plan’; setting recruitment prognosis and targets, and defining activities related to people development and retention needed to succeed with the BA business plan. 
  • Establish an effective BA organization (in line with AFRY organization guiding principles) and ensure efficient methods regarding staffing of project and assignments 
  • Actively ensure sustainable processes and solutions 

Qualifications

As our VP and head of BA Food &Pharma, we believe you have the skills and experience listed below:  

  • You have extensive experience in leading a large business, including responsibility for financial performance and people. 
  • You have experience from the Life Science or Food-industry and/or from the consulting industry  
  • You have a Master of science in Engineering or equivalent educational background   
  • You have experience of working internationally in large organization
  • Exceptional strategic ability and mindset, able to quickly grasp complex situations, make difficult decisions and identify business opportunities  
  • You have a proven track record of building strong customer relationships leading to great results  
  • You are a strong people leader with proven experience in building high performing teams and leading subordinate managers. 
  • You act as an authority in your own functional field and you are able to successfully manage C-level customer dialogues.  
  • You are a strong communicator and change advocate. You easily establish personal credibility and trust with others. 
  • Proficiency in English (and proficiency in Swedish is a plus)
