The one-year paid AFRY Future Stars programme consists of summer work and the suitable amount of part-time work alongside the studies. The program includes four training days, which support your development.
During the training days, you will learn important skills about working in the consulting business and find your professional potential. As a Stars trainee you are supported by your manager and trainee network in finding your career path and developing you professionally.
Work tasks are formed individually depending on the trainee’s situation, knowledge and interests. During the programme you can also negotiate about a possibility to write your thesis for us. The programme begins in May 2023 and lasts for one year.
We are now looking a Stars trainee to our Management Consulting, Energy team in Vantaa!

Our team in Vantaa consists of over 30 supportive colleagues who boost your development and are curious about your ideas. Some examples of our work include strategic advice for energy companies and energy users and due diligence for asset and company transactions. In addition, some of our recent public work include a study on the role of district heating in the decarbonisation of the energy system in Finland and assessing the role of hydrogen in Finland until 2050.
As a Trainee in Management Consulting Energy management team, you will work in a team of typically 3-5 consultants in client projects within energy field with varying scope and responsibilities, such as:
- Market research e.g. interviews, data analysis and forecasting
- Support in financial analysis e.g. cash flow modelling
- Support in techno-economic analysis e.g. cost and operations analysis
- Developing and updating AFRY’s internal tools and databases related to energy
- Develop presentation slides and report segments covering your work
Qualifications
Who are we looking for?
You are a Master’s student in Engineering, Natural Sciences or Business at the end of your studies with good academic performance. Ideally, you will have a year of study left at the start of the program.
You are willing to take a task on your own initiative and be in charge of delivering high quality end result. You are comfortable with ambiguous problems and have the ability to break them down and solve through quantitative and qualitative analysis.
Working as a Stars trainee in the Energy management team also requires:
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team of both local and international colleagues
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing
- Excellent analytical, numerical and problem-solving skills and very good command of MS Office tools (mainly Excel, PowerPoint and Word)
- Fluency in English and Finnish (oral and written)
- A strong interest in energy systems and energy economics and a drive to pursue a career in management consulting
