Company Description

AFRY is a European leader in engineering, design, and advisory services, with a global reach and more than 18,000 devoted experts, operating within the fields of infrastructure, industry, energy and digitalization. We accelerate the transition towards a sustainable society and are always scouting for talents that can help us meet the ever-increasing demand for the services we provide.

Job Description

We are excited to welcome one, or a couple of student for a Master Thesis Project within Automotive in Trollhättan.

Start date is in January 2023.

Background
Today, the usage of structural adhesives has increased in the automotive industry. At the same time the knowledge and the experience of the structural adhesive modeling and failure predictions in the FE field is limited. Hence this is an interesting topic to be explored.

Objective
The objective of the thesis is to investigate and develop a methodology to analyze and evaluate adhesive structural performance for strength and durability. The investigation using adhesives, will be of both pure metal-to-metal structures and composite-to-metal structures. The method should be implemented using the finite element method. A correlation study between the simulation results and the physical testing should be performed.

Methods
Literature studies to find current industrial practice and existing methods for predicting failures of bonded joints using structural adhesives.
Testing of standard coupons to verify the accuracy of the simulations.

Qualifications

We believe you are currently studying a Master Program in Applied Mechanics or Automotive Engineering.

Additional Information

In the department CAE & Safety, in Trollhättan, you will be part of the team that performs strength, durability and NVH analysis to develop the performance and attributes of vehicles and systems of the future. Our customers are both local and international.

Please apply before October 31st.

We are looking forward to reading your application!
