Job Description

We are looking for keen and physically fit Slaughter Floor labourers interested in progressing a career in the meat industry at our seasonal processing plant located in Feilding, Manawatu.

This work is fast paced and requires people that are reliable, motivated, fit and healthy with a positive attitude. Full training will be provided.

  • Hours of work vary from 30 – 50 hours per week with paid rates ranging from $25 to $40 per hour dependent on assigned task, skill and experience, plus any applicable allowances and overtime.

    Qualifications

    As a skilled Meat Process Worker, you will have had 2 years' experience using knives or working with meat products or achieved a level 4 meat processing qualification.

    While not required we will give preference to any applicants that holds a New Zealand meat processing qualifications or a recognised equivalent.

    As a member of our team, you will be responsible for a variety of duties, including:

    • Removing viscera and other inedible parts from carcasses.
    • Hygienically dressing carcasses in preparation for primal cuts or further processing and packaging.
    • Operating slaughterfloor equipment, such as cutters and flays.
    • Trimming and removing head meat and severing animal heads.
    • Wearing Personal Protective Equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, steel toe boots, mesh safety equipment) as provided by the employer.
