Job Description

At AFCA, our technology helps deliver fairness for Australians. As the Senior Solutions Architect, Corporate Services; you’ll play a key role in shaping the systems that support our people, finances and operations ensuring they’re well‑designed, secure and fit for purpose.

This role is responsible for defining and guiding end‑to‑end solution architecture across Corporate Services, spanning HR, Payroll, Finance and related enabling platforms. You’ll translate business strategy, regulatory obligations and operational needs into cohesive technology solutions that can be successfully delivered and adopted in a complex, regulated environment. This is a hands‑on architecture role, working closely with delivery teams and business stakeholders, and operating within modern, agile ways of working.

What you’ll do

  • Own and lead solution architecture across Corporate Services platforms, including HR, Payroll and Finance systems
  • Translate people, financial and operational process requirements into practical, scalable solution designs aligned to target architecture
  • Provide architectural leadership across process, data, integration, security and platform layers
  • Partner closely with Delivery Leads, Product Owners and senior stakeholders across HR, Finance, Payroll and Technology
  • Act as a hands‑on architect, supporting delivery teams with detailed designs, patterns, trade‑offs and decision‑making
  • Ensure solutions meet security, privacy, risk and regulatory requirements expected in a regulated environment
  • Collaborate with vendors and system integrators to ensure alignment with architectural standards and program objectives
  • Identify and manage architectural risks, dependencies and technical debt
  • Support scaled agile (SAFe) delivery by enabling incremental delivery while maintaining architectural integrity
  • Act as a change agent, helping teams adopt new platforms, processes and ways of working

Qualifications

What you’ll bring

  • Significant years’ experience as a senior Solutions Architect in complex enterprise environments
  • Proven experience supporting large‑scale transformation programs, with strong exposure to HR, Payroll and Finance platforms
  • Hands‑on Workday expertise is essential, including HCM, Payroll and/or Financial Management modules
  • Demonstrated experience working within major transformation delivery programs, beyond BAU architecture
  • Capability operating in regulated or high‑compliance environments
  • Strong experience supporting Agile and SAFe delivery models at enterprise scale
  • Ability to translate business process needs into cohesive end‑to‑end solution architecture
  • Deep understanding of Workday architecture, integrations, data flows and security models
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence leaders, delivery teams and vendors
  • Pragmatic judgement balancing delivery speed with architectural integrity and risk
  • Clear communication skills, able to simplify complex technical concepts for non‑technical audiences
  • A resilient, collaborative technical leader with a growth mindset and delivery‑focused approach
