At AFCA, fairness is at the heart of everything we do and that extends to how we care for our people. We’re looking for an experienced and values‑led Health, Safety & Wellbeing Advisor to play a pivotal role in supporting the health, safety and wellbeing of our employees across the organisation.
Reporting to the Senior Health, Safety & Wellbeing Advisor, this role offers the opportunity to influence, coach and partner with leaders while contributing to a mature, sustainable and people‑centred safety culture. We’re open to full‑time or part‑time (4 days a week) arrangements, offering flexibility to suit your lifestyle.
The opportunity
You’ll provide practical, best‑practice health and safety advice to leaders and employees, supporting incident and risk management, injury management and return‑to‑work programs. Working closely with People Leaders, People Partners and specialist stakeholders, you’ll help embed early intervention, shared responsibility and continual improvement across AFCA.
This is a highly collaborative role, ideal for someone who enjoys influencing, problem‑solving and making a genuine difference to people’s working lives.
What you’ll be responsible for
- Providing expert advice and guidance on health, safety and wellbeing matters to leaders and employees
- Leading risk management activities, including hazard identification, risk assessments, control implementation and workplace inspections/audits
- Managing incident investigations, root cause analysis, corrective actions and lessons learned
- Supporting injury management and return‑to‑work, including WorkCover case management and sustainable RTW outcomes
- Partnering with People Partners and leaders on reasonable adjustment requests
- Developing and maintaining HSW policies, procedures, fact sheets and education campaigns
- Promoting a culture of early intervention, prevention and leading practice
- Coaching and influencing leaders to meet compliance while fostering interdependent safety behaviours
- Coordinating HSW data, systems, reporting and insights to support informed decision‑making
- Contributing to the ongoing development and continuous improvement of AFCA’s HSW approach and strategy
Qualifications
What you’ll bring
Essential
- Tertiary qualification in Health, Safety & Wellbeing (or related discipline) with solid to extensive HSW experience
- Strong working knowledge of HSW legislation, including national and state‑based frameworks
- Proven experience managing workers’ compensation and injury management cases
- Experience conducting risk assessments, incident investigations, audits and inspections
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to prioritise and manage competing deadlines
- A proactive, adaptable and mature approach, with the ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively
Desirable
- Experience in the financial services or legal sector
- Diploma qualification in Work Health and Safety
- Approved RTW Coordinator / RTW Administrator (or working towards accreditation)
- Experience working within regulated, professional or complex environments
