As a Clerk of Works with AECOM in Limerick, you will be responsible for providing on-site inspection, quality assurance and construction monitoring services across a range of building and infrastructure projects. Working as part of the project delivery team, you will help ensure that construction works are completed safely, to the required quality standards, in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, contracts and relevant Irish legislation.

The Clerk of Works shall:

  • Carry out regular inspections of construction works to monitor progress, workmanship and compliance with project specifications.
  • Monitor the quality of materials, workmanship and installation methods on site.
  • Ensure works are being undertaken in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, method statements and relevant standards.
  • Identify defective, incomplete or non-compliant works and report these to the relevant project team members.
  • Maintain accurate records of site inspections, observations, photographs, testing and construction progress.
  • Monitor contractors' performance and raise quality or compliance issues where required.
  • Attend site meetings and contribute to discussions regarding construction progress, quality, safety and programme.
  • Review and comment on construction documentation, inspection and test plans, method statements and other relevant submissions.
  • Monitor testing and commissioning activities and ensure appropriate records are maintained.
  • Liaise with contractors, consultants, designers, project managers and other stakeholders to resolve construction issues.
  • Assist with the monitoring and management of snagging, defects and remedial works through to completion.
  • Monitor construction progress against the agreed programme and report significant delays or issues to the project management team.
  • Ensure that changes and variations to the works are properly identified and recorded.
  • Promote a strong culture of health and safety on site and report unsafe practices or conditions.
  • Support the project team during handover and completion, including inspections, snagging and review of as-built information.
  • Maintain professional and constructive relationships with all project stakeholders.

 

Qualifications

Ready to push the boundaries of what’s possible?

  • Relevant qualification in construction, civil engineering, building surveying, architectural technology or a related discipline.
  • Previous experience in a Clerk of Works, Site Inspector, Site Supervisor, Site Engineer or similar construction quality role.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials and quality-control procedures.
  • Good understanding of construction drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
  • Knowledge of relevant Irish building regulations, standards and health and safety requirements.
  • Experience working with contractors and multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify construction defects or non-compliance.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organisational and reporting skills.
  • Ability to work independently on site while also contributing effectively to a wider project team.
  • A full driving licence may be required depending on project location.
