Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Senior Fire & Life Safety (FLS) Engineer to join our growing Fire Engineering team. The successful candidate will lead the development of fire and life safety strategies for complex transportation, infrastructure and building projects, supporting multidisciplinary teams throughout all project phases.
The role requires strong expertise in fire engineering, building regulations, activities licensing and legalisation processes, and the application of national and international fire safety codes. Experience in transportation facilities (rail, metro, road, airports) and tunnel projects is highly desirable.
The candidate will work closely with mechanical, civil, structural, architectural and systems engineers to deliver practical, compliant and innovative fire safety solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Fire & Life Safety engineering design for transportation, infrastructure and complex building projects.
- Develop Fire Engineering Strategies, Fire Safety Reports and Code Compliance Assessments.
- Define fire protection systems, means of escape, smoke control philosophies and life safety strategies.
- Perform regulatory compliance reviews against local regulations, building codes and international standards.
- Support activities licensing and legalisation processes with local authorities and approval agencies.
- Coordinate with architects, MEP, structural and systems disciplines to integrate fire safety requirements into project designs.
- Prepare technical specifications, design criteria, calculations and engineering reports.
- Participate in hazard identification and fire risk assessments.
- Support construction phase activities, design reviews and technical queries.
- Interface with clients, authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs) and stakeholders.
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers.
- Support business development activities, technical proposals and project planning.
Qualifications
Here’s what we’re looking for:
- Minimum Mechanical Degree (master's degree in Fire & Safety Engineering preferred), Industrial Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Extensive experience in Fire & Life Safety Engineering within engineering consultancy or design environments.
- Strong knowledge of:
- Building Regulations.
- Fire Codes and Standards.
- Activities Licensing and Legalisation processes.
- Fire Protection Systems.
- Means of Escape.
- Smoke Management.
- Performance-Based Fire Engineering.
- Experience delivering fire engineering solutions for transportation buildings, infrastructure and/or tunnels.
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Ability to prepare technical reports, specifications and engineering documentation.
- Strong communication and client-facing skills.
- Fluent English (written and spoken).
Desirable
- Experience with rail, metro, highway or airport infrastructure.
- Experience with underground facilities and tunnel fire safety.
- Knowledge of CFD fire modelling (FDS, PyroSim or similar).
- Experience with evacuation modelling (Pathfinder or similar).
- Knowledge of international standards
