Job Description
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Piping & Space Manager with 10–15 years of experience in semiconductor FAB, advanced technology facilities, life sciences, industrial, or similar complex projects.
The candidate will be responsible for piping layout development, space management, utility distribution planning, equipment arrangement, pipe rack planning, and interdisciplinary coordination throughout concept, basic and detailed design stages. The role requires strong understanding of utility systems, process support systems, BIM coordination, and efficient utilization of plant and building spaces.
The ideal candidate should be capable of independently developing design solutions, coordinating with multiple disciplines, identifying design constraints, and supporting project delivery in accordance with client standards, project specifications and engineering best practices.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and review piping layouts, equipment layouts, plant room layouts, utility distribution layouts and piping arrangements for semiconductor FAB and associated facilities.
- Develop Site Master Plans (SMP), General Arrangement (GA) drawings, sector layouts, utility corridors, pipe rack layouts and distribution schemes.
- Perform space management and space allocation for process utilities, mechanical systems, electrical systems, chemical/gas systems and other building services.
- Plan and optimize utility highways, pipe racks, trenches, corridors, shafts and vertical distribution routes considering constructability and maintenance access.
- Develop piping layouts for systems including UPW, PCW/CW, CHW, CDA, Nitrogen, Argon, process chemicals, specialty gases, bulk gases, exhaust and waste systems.
- Review equipment arrangement and establish appropriate maintenance, operation, access and safety clearances.
- Coordinate with Process, Mechanical, Electrical, Structural, Architectural, HVAC, Fire Protection and other disciplines to ensure effective space utilization.
- Develop and review 2D and 3D piping models using relevant design platforms.
- Manage and review LOD-350+ models for interdisciplinary coordination and detailed design.
- Perform model reviews and identify clashes, routing constraints, access issues and constructability concerns.
- Review GC, vendor and specialist models and incorporate relevant requirements into the overall facility design.
- Prepare and review design deliverables including piping layouts, equipment layouts, sections, elevations, GA drawings, pipe rack layouts and utility distribution drawings.
- Support development and implementation of BIM Execution Plans (BEP), modelling standards and project-specific design procedures.
- Participate in design reviews, constructability reviews, interdisciplinary coordination meetings and client discussions.
Co-ordination:
- Coordinate with cross-functional engineering teams to develop integrated piping and space management solutions.
- Lead interdisciplinary space management and model coordination reviews.
- Conduct clash detection and support resolution of conflicts using Navisworks / ACC / BIM coordination platforms.
- Coordinate with architectural and structural teams to optimize equipment rooms, plant rooms, utility spaces, pipe racks and building interfaces.
- Coordinate with Process and equipment teams to ensure accurate equipment locations, connection points and utility requirements.
Experience & Qualification:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering / chemical engineering.
- 10+ years of relevant experience in piping design, plant layout, space management and interdisciplinary coordination.
- Experience in Semiconductor FAB, Life Sciences, Pharmaceutical, Industrial or similar complex projects is preferred.
- Strong understanding of industrial utility systems, process utilities and piping layout principles.
- Proficiency in Revit/AVEVA E3D / PDMS, AutoCAD, Navisworks and ACC/BIM coordination platforms.
