AECOM is playing a key role in delivering Section One of the Northland Corridor Project, a Road of National Significance that will transform transport connections between Northland and Auckland while supporting long-term economic growth, regional development and network resilience.

As we continue to expand our project team, we are seeking an experienced Senior Engineer – Transportation Stormwater to support the design and delivery of drainage infrastructure across this part of the project.

Job Description

The Opportunity

Working within AECOM's Flooding and Drainage team and dedicated to Section One of the Northland Corridor Project, you will play a key role in the design and coordination of drainage solutions supporting the project's Roading packages.

This role is ideally suited to a drainage professional with strong technical capability, extensive 12d experience and a background delivering transport or major civil infrastructure projects.

You will be responsible for the design, coordination and delivery of drainage infrastructure, ensuring solutions are practical, buildable and integrated with the wider project design packages, including roading, structures, utilities, geotechnical and environmental disciplines.

How You'll Make an Impact

As a Senior Stormwater Designer, you will:

  • Lead the design and delivery of drainage infrastructure for Local Roads packages within the Northland Corridor Project.
  • Undertake stormwater and drainage design using 12d software.
  • Act as a package lead for drainage-related design activities, coordinating inputs and outputs across project teams.
  • Prepare drainage design drawings, technical reports and supporting documentation.
  • Coordinate closely with multidisciplinary teams, including roading, structures, utilities, geotechnical and environmental specialists.
  • Respond to design review comments and support resolution of technical issues.
  • Ensure project specific and Auckland Council stormwater requirements are incorporated into design solutions.
  • Support design development from concept through to detailed design.
  • Maintain high-quality project documentation and support document control processes.
  • Contribute to practical, efficient and buildable infrastructure solutions that support project objectives.

Qualifications

What You'll Bring

To be considered for this role, you will have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years' experience in drainage design within New Zealand or Australian transport, infrastructure or civil engineering projects.
  • Strong experience using 12d software for drainage design and modelling.
  • Proven experience designing stormwater drainage systems for roads and highways on major infrastructure projects.
  • Experience preparing design reports, technical specifications and construction drawings.
  • Sound understanding of New Zealand stormwater design principles and practices.
  • Experience coordinating with multidisciplinary design teams.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management and collaboration skills.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities within a complex project environment.

Highly Regarded

The following experience would be advantageous:

  • Experience working on Roads of National Significance, state highway or major transport infrastructure projects within New Zealand.
  • Knowledge of Auckland Council stormwater requirements, standards and approvals processes.
  • Experience acting as a package lead within a multidisciplinary design environment.
  • Experience with stream diversion design and channel earthworks.
  • Understanding of erosion and sediment control requirements.
  • Experience coordinating drainage design requirements during construction phases.
  • Chartered status or working towards professional registration.
