AECOM is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our growing Canadian Data Center team.

This is a senior, hands-on technical role for an experienced electrical engineer ready to tackle the scale, speed and complexity of hyperscale, colocation and mission-critical facilities. This is a newly created position.

You will design resilient critical-power infrastructure, solve complex engineering challenges, collaborate with clients and multidisciplinary teams, and help develop the next generation of engineers.

What You'll Do

• Lead electrical design for hyperscale, colocation and mission-critical data centers.
• Design medium-voltage and low-voltage electrical distribution systems, including utility services, substations, transformers, switchgear, switchboards and panelboards.
• Develop critical-power and backup-power systems incorporating UPS systems, generators, batteries and associated distribution.
• Design resilient, redundant and fault-tolerant electrical architectures for continuous operations.
• Perform electrical load calculations, demand assessments, capacity planning and power-system studies.
• Support short-circuit, protective-device coordination, arc-flash and related electrical-system analyses.
• Develop grounding, bonding, lightning-protection and emergency-power solutions.
• Support high-density computing applications and evolving data center power requirements.
• Advance energy-efficient and sustainable electrical design strategies.
• Prepare engineering calculations, single-line diagrams, equipment selections, specifications and technical documentation.
• Coordinate with mechanical, structural, architectural, civil, fire protection, telecommunications and controls disciplines.
• Support construction, RFIs, shop drawing reviews, commissioning, integrated systems testing, startup and turnover.
• Work directly with clients, utilities, contractors, vendors and project stakeholders.
• Mentor junior and intermediate engineers and designers.
• Support proposals, pursuits, fee development and technical presentations.

What You Bring

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
• Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registration in a Canadian province, or eligibility to obtain registration.
• 6+ years of progressive electrical engineering experience.
• Strong power-distribution and electrical-system design experience.
• Experience with data centers, mission-critical facilities or other complex building infrastructure.
• Strong technical, multidisciplinary coordination and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• 10+ years of electrical engineering experience.
• Hyperscale, colocation or mission-critical data center experience.
• Experience with medium-voltage and low-voltage electrical distribution systems.
• Experience with UPS, generator, battery and critical-power systems.
• Experience with short-circuit, protective-device coordination, arc-flash and other power-system studies.
• Commissioning and integrated systems testing experience.
• Knowledge of Canadian electrical codes, standards and provincial requirements.
• Familiarity with Uptime Institute Tier concepts, TIA-942 and ANSI/BICSI 002.
• Experience with Revit, Autodesk Construction Cloud, BIM 360.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary design coordination and client-facing technical delivery.
