Job Description

Shape the future of critical water infrastructure assets

AECOM's Asset Management team partners with some of Australia's most important infrastructure owners to improve asset performance, reliability and long-term service outcomes.

We're looking for a proven and experienced Asset Management Consultant to play a key role in strengthening and growing our Asset Management capability across New South Wales, with a particular focus on one of our most important local government partnerships.

This role offers the opportunity to become a trusted advisor in Central Coast, working closely with client stakeholders to develop practical, data-driven asset management strategies across water and sewer infrastructure.

Based from either Newcastle or Sydney, you'll spend approximately three days per week embedded within the client environment (in Central Coast), building relationships and helping drive better asset lifecycle decisions.

How you'll make a difference

  • Lead the development of strategic, tactical and operational asset management solutions for critical water and sewer infrastructure.
  • Transform asset condition, utilisation, defect and performance data into practical lifecycle strategies and asset management plans.
  • Develop and review Asset Management Plans, Strategic Asset Management Plans (SAMPs), lifecycle strategies, maintenance frameworks and investment plans.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to key client stakeholders, providing practical recommendations that improve asset performance and service outcomes.
  • Lead project delivery, ensuring high-quality outcomes, strong client satisfaction and commercial success.
  • Support business development activities and help grow AECOM's Asset Management presence across NSW.
  • Mentor and support junior consultants while contributing to a collaborative and high-performing team culture.

Qualifications

The qualities that help you thrive

The following experience is highly desired, but if you don't tick every box, we'd still love to hear from you.

Ideally, you'll bring:

  • 8-15 years' experience in Asset Management, ideally within a consulting environment.
  • Strong experience developing asset lifecycle, maintenance and investment strategies across infrastructure assets.
  • The ability to translate strategic objectives into practical and actionable asset management plans.
  • Experience working directly with clients and building trusted long-term relationships.
  • A proactive, autonomous consulting style with the ability to solve problems and lead projects independently.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and commercial skills.

Bonus points for:

  • Water, wastewater or utility infrastructure experience.
  • Experience supporting local government, water authorities or infrastructure owners.
  • Knowledge of ISO 55000 or contemporary asset management frameworks and practices.
