Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Structural Engineer to be based in Atlanta, GA. This Structural Engineer will support a wide range of projects including FAA air traffic control towers, NASA Buildings, and other federal and commercial clients. The successful candidate will be heavily involved with BIM and the use of Revit to create production drawings. The candidate will also use 3D structural analysis software to produce design calculations and reports; work with CAD technicians in the production of construction documents and ensure assignments meet building codes as well as client requirements.
This person will be responsible for but not limited to the following:
- Under the direction of the structural department manager and senior structural engineers, carry out assigned tasks for the analysis and design of building structures.
- Prepare design calculations for structural members of varying materials, including structural steel, reinforced concrete, masonry and wood.
- Use structural engineering software as a tool to create structural computer models of public and private sector facilities.
- Produce structural drawings using Revit and AutoCAD.
- Perform construction administration duties, including shop drawing submittal review, request for information (RFI) response preparation and site visit reports.
- Participate in interdisciplinary coordination meetings with other in-house A/E professionals, including architects, planners, MEP engineers and fire-protection engineers.
- Organize and maintain project-related documents.
- Assist senior structural engineers in the performance of field investigations of existing building structures; collect and evaluate field data.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with Structures concentration plus 4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
- Due to the nature of work, U.S. citizenship is required
- Demonstrated experience with structural analysis and design software, such as RAM Elements, RAM Structural System, ETABS, SAFE, RISA
- Demonstrated experience with Revit and AutoCAD
- EIT
- Ability to obtain a PE license within 6 months
Preferred Qualifications:
- Relevant internship and/or work experience in design office
- PE License
- 6+ years of relevant structural engineering experience
- Familiar with building codes and standards, including IBC, ASCE 7, ACI 318, AISC 360 and TMS 402/602
- Proficiency in using general computer software to produce spreadsheets and reports
- Ability to translate analytical results into practical structural engineering solutions
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Keen interest in the built-environment
- Desire to learn new skills and explore wider engineering and architectural issues
