Job Description
Job Summary
AECOM is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer and Project Manager to be based in Orange, CA. This hybrid position combines senior-level civil engineering responsibilities with project management accountability for the delivery of civil infrastructure projects.
The Senior Civil Engineer and Project Manager will oversee project scope, schedule, budget, technical quality and multidisciplinary coordination while serving as a key point of contact for clients and project stakeholders. The role will guide engineering teams through planning, design and construction support while ensuring project objectives and contractual requirements are addressed.
This position requires an experienced Professional Engineer who can balance technical leadership with project delivery, client communication and financial stewardship across complex civil engineering assignments.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage civil infrastructure projects with responsibility for scope, schedule, budget, quality and overall project delivery.
- Lead technical planning, design and engineering activities throughout the project lifecycle.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for clients and coordinate project requirements, priorities and deliverables.
- Develop project work plans, staffing strategies, schedules, budgets and technical approaches.
- Monitor project financial performance, resource allocation, progress and changes to scope.
- Review engineering calculations, reports, plans, specifications and other technical deliverables for quality and compliance.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams and resolve technical, schedule and delivery issues.
- Manage communication and coordination with clients, agencies, consultants, contractors and other project stakeholders.
- Provide technical direction and mentoring to engineers and other project team members.
- Lead or support proposal development, scope preparation, fee development, presentations and client pursuit activities.
- Support construction-phase services, including design clarifications, submittal reviews, requests for information and field coordination.
- Identify project risks and develop practical strategies to address technical, contractual, schedule and budget considerations.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- BA/BS + 8 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
- California Professional Engineer license.
- Experience managing civil infrastructure projects for public agencies, municipalities or other major infrastructure clients.
- Demonstrated responsibility for project scope, schedule, budget, staffing and technical quality.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams through multiple phases of project delivery.
- Strong knowledge of civil engineering design standards, codes, permitting requirements and construction practices.
- Experience developing project proposals, scopes of work, fee estimates and project delivery strategies.
- Demonstrated client relationship management and stakeholder coordination experience.
- Experience mentoring technical staff and providing leadership across project teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate technical and project information to both technical and nontechnical audiences.

- This position requires a hybrid work schedule associated with the Orange, CA office. The selected candidate must be available to work in the office on a scheduled basis.
- This position is expected to maintain full project utilization.
