AECOM is seeking an experienced Project Engineer:Aviation to join our team in one of our office in Dublin.

What You’ll Do

The Project Engineer will be assigned to the Delivery function within the Infrastructure Department’s Portfolio, working across a range of engineering disciplines, including civil, structural, mechanical and electrical engineering. The role will support the planning, coordination and management of construction quality assurance and quality control, as well as construction supervision, as required, across the Infrastructure Department’s Portfolio. The Project Engineer will help ensure that projects are delivered safely and in accordance with established quality, schedule and cost targets.

The Project Engineer:Aviation shall:

  • Carry out duties and responsibilities as directed by the Project Manager and Head of Construction.
  • Undertake a role requiring a regular on-site presence throughout the construction phase of the project.
  • Monitor compliance with all applicable Health, Safety and Environmental requirements.
  • Actively promote and support a positive safety culture within the project team and across the construction site.
  • Attend safety leadership meetings and other relevant safety forums as required.
  • Fulfil the role of Site Project Manager (“SPM”) as defined within the Contracting Entity’s Direction D-O Construction Projects, and undertake all appropriate training necessary to meet the required competencies for the role.
  • Undertake any other roles or responsibilities assigned under the Contracting Entity’s Airport Directions or Safety Management System.
  • Review construction quality plans, inspection and test plans, and associated quality documentation.
  • Undertake construction quality assurance activities, including surveillance and monitoring, on design-and-build projects to provide confidence that the works are being delivered in accordance with the specified quality requirements.
  • Undertake construction quality control activities on traditional projects, including inspection of planned Hold and Witness Points, to provide assurance that the works comply with the specified quality requirements.
  • Regularly inspect the works to verify that construction is being carried out in accordance with the contract drawings, specifications, quality inspection plans and recognised industry best practice.
  • Review and provide comments on Contractor Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) for submission through the P2W permit system.
  • Monitor the Contractor’s programme and provide comments on progress, sequencing and any potential impacts on project delivery.
  • Maintain a comprehensive and accurate site diary throughout the construction period.
  • Prepare daily site reports recording relevant information, including, but not limited to, site and weather conditions, plant, labour and material resources, material deliveries, work locations, activities undertaken, safety performance, safety issues, quality performance and quality-related issues.
  • Assist the Project Manager with the management and close-out of Requests for Information (RFIs), Change Requests and Technical Queries.
  • Assist the Project Manager and PSDP in the review and compilation of the Project Safety File.
  • Establish, agree and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure and assess Contractor performance.
  • Manage the identification, rectification and close-out of construction defects before and, where necessary, after the issue of the Practical Completion Certificate for the relevant projects.
  • Liaise effectively with project stakeholders before, during and following completion of the projects.

Qualifications

Ready to push the boundaries of what’s possible?

  • 10+ years’ experience on major Civil/Building works projects in the aviation sector - experience in airport construction projects at international airports or in similarly highly regulated environments is preferable
  • Strong knowledge of infrastructure, engineering and delivery particularly around construction methodologies
  • Tangible experience of documenting best practice construction development and implementation frameworks, policies and standards.
  • Experience of dealing with a range of stakeholders at all levels across the organisation influencing the improvement of process and guidance to support project delivery.
  • Experience of operating in an aviation site-based position
