Job Description

The Opportunity

AECOM is seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join our Building Services team.

This is an opportunity to take a leading role in the design and delivery of complex building services projects across New Zealand and Australia, working on projects that set new benchmarks for technical excellence and innovation.

You'll bring your electrical design expertise, technical leadership and collaborative approach to multidisciplinary teams delivering projects across healthcare, aviation, transport, commercial and major infrastructure sectors.

Working alongside architects, engineers, project managers and specialist consultants, you'll help develop integrated building solutions that balance performance, sustainability, constructability and client outcomes.

Whether you're leading design packages, mentoring developing engineers or working directly with clients to solve complex challenges, you'll play a key role in shaping projects from concept through to completion.

How You'll Add Impact

  • Lead the design and delivery of electrical building services packages across a diverse portfolio of projects.
  • Develop innovative, practical and high-quality electrical engineering solutions that meet client and project objectives.
  • Provide technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle, from concept design through detailed design and construction support.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver fully integrated building services solutions.
  • Review and oversee design documentation, calculations and technical deliverables to ensure excellence and compliance.
  • Collaborate with clients and stakeholders to understand project requirements and deliver exceptional outcomes.
  • Support project planning, resource management and delivery across multiple projects.
  • Contribute to proposals, presentations and business development opportunities.
  • Mentor and support developing engineers, helping build capability across the wider team.
  • Champion technical excellence, innovation and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

What You'll Bring

We're looking for an Electrical Engineer who combines strong technical design capability with a passion for delivering outstanding building services solutions.

To be considered for this role you will ideally have:

  • A tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years' experience in electrical engineering, ideally within a building services consulting environment.
  • Proven experience delivering electrical designs across a range of building or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong understanding of electrical building services systems and design principles.
  • Experience coordinating with multidisciplinary design teams.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Commercial awareness and an understanding of project delivery within a consulting environment.
  • Experience managing multiple priorities and contributing to successful project outcomes.
  • Working towards Chartered (CPEng) status or a desire to pursue professional registration.

The following, though not essential, would be highly advantageous:

  • Experience within healthcare projects.
  • Experience working on aviation, transport or major infrastructure developments.
  • Familiarity with New Zealand building services standards and codes.
  • Experience leading design packages and mentoring junior engineers.
  • Experience contributing to winning work through proposals and client engagement.
