Job Description

Be part of the deals that power the transition

AECOM's Energy Advisory practice sits at the heart of the energy transition, helping public and private sector clients navigate everything from strategy and business case development through to commercial structuring and transaction support.

As our practice grows, we're looking for a Commercial Advisor to strengthen how we deliver rigorous, credible commercial advice, working hand-in-hand with our technical, planning and engineering teams to shape integrated solutions our clients can act on with confidence.

This role is anchored in energy, with the opportunity to flex across other infrastructure sectors as our pipeline demands. If you want your commercial thinking to sit right alongside the engineers shaping renewables, storage, hydrogen and grid infrastructure, this is your seat at the table.

What you'll be doing

  • Structuring and delivering commercial advice on energy sector engagements, business cases, market analysis, and options and feasibility assessments
  • Leading or contributing to commercial and technical due diligence on energy transactions (asset sales, M&A, financing), translating technical findings into commercial risk and value for clients
  • Applying working knowledge of energy market fundamentals and transition themes to frame commercial issues with confidence
  • Developing and interrogating financial and market models, investment appraisals and feasibility analyses
  • Building trusted relationships as a client-facing advisor, representing AECOM's commercial advisory offer to senior stakeholders
  • Preparing client-ready deliverables, business cases, due diligence reports, investment memoranda, tender/bid documentation, board and investment committee papers
  • Supporting engagements end-to-end, from origination and proposals through to delivery and ongoing client relationships
  • Working at the interface of commercial, financial and technical team, translating engineering and planning input into commercially credible advice, and back again

Qualifications

What you'll bring

  • 5+ years' experience in a commercial, financial or transaction advisory function, gained within a professional services/advisory firm (Big 4, engineering/infrastructure consultancy, investment bank, infrastructure fund) or an equivalent in-house commercial team
  • Direct experience in energy sector commercial advisory is highly regarded; strong transaction/commercial advisory backgrounds from other infrastructure sectors looking to move into energy are also welcome
  • A tertiary qualification in commerce, finance, economics, engineering or a related discipline; postgraduate study or progress toward CA/CFA (or equivalent) is a plus, not essential
  • Strong analytical capability, with the confidence to present findings to senior client and internal stakeholders

Why AECOM

Join a global infrastructure leader where commercial advisory isn't siloed, it's built alongside engineering and planning expertise, giving you real influence over how the energy transition gets financed, structured and delivered. You'll work on complex, high-impact engagements with genuine variety, backed by a team that values rigorous thinking and client trust in equal measure.

Ready to bring commercial rigour to the energy transition? We'd love to hear from you.
