Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Advisor - Safety, Health & Environment to join our organization in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. In this pivotal role, you will serve as a strategic leader and trusted advisor, driving safety excellence across our projects and operations. You will be responsible for identifying, assessing, and monitoring Safety, Health & Environment (SH&E) requirements while ensuring alignment with local UAE legislative and regulatory obligations, as well as organizational and project-specific standards.   • Serve as the senior point of contact for all SH&E matters, providing strategic guidance and support to project teams, contractors, and stakeholders
  • Identify and communicate AECOM, project, and legislative SH&E requirements, ensuring stakeholder alignment and compliance across all operations
  • Conduct comprehensive daily and periodic inspections of contractor activities to verify compliance with SH&E policies, plans, and contractual obligations
  • Perform detailed visual inspections, document findings, and submit observation reports through the project reporting system, ensuring timely follow-up and closure
  • Coordinate, chair, and document site SH&E meetings, fostering collaborative dialogue and transparent communication among all participants
  • Prepare and submit safety inspection reports to project leadership, providing actionable recommendations and engaging support for continuous improvement
  • Review and analyze risk mitigation documentation, including method statements, risk assessments, and permit-to-work procedures, ensuring alignment with safe work methodologies
  • Evaluate SH&E requirements embedded in contractor submissions, verifying that proposed activities comply with established safety protocols and best practices
  • Inspect and verify the appropriate maintenance, calibration, and operation of all safety equipment and systems
  • Assess site security, fire prevention, first aid, and welfare facilities, ensuring procedures are adequate, properly maintained, and aligned with project requirements
  • Lead investigations into incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and implementing preventative measures based on potential consequences
  • Model exemplary Health & Safety behavior at all times, setting a high personal standard and inspiring others to prioritize safety
  • Provide regular upstream reports to project and SH&E leadership, offering analytical insights and strategic recommendations
  • Participate in SH&E training programs and identify additional training needs to maintain professional development and expertise
  • Mentor and coach project teams on SH&E best practices, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop innovative solutions to emerging SH&E challenges

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field
  • NEBOSH General Certificate (GC) or proven equivalent certification in occupational health and safety
  • Minimum 12+ years of progressive experience in Safety, Health & Environment roles within construction, engineering, or related industries
  • Demonstrated expertise in SH&E compliance assessment, monitoring, and regulatory alignment
  • Proven experience conducting site inspections, audits, and risk assessments
  • Strong background in incident investigation, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation
  • Extensive knowledge of risk assessment methodologies and mitigation strategies
  • Proven ability to manage contractor oversight and ensure adherence to SH&E standards
  • Excellent report writing, documentation, and communication skills
  • Advanced proficiency in stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration
  • Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities with the ability to influence and inspire teams
  • Comprehensive knowledge of UAE and Dubai-specific SH&E regulations, standards, and best practices
  • Project management experience with demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Proficiency in SH&E management systems and project reporting software
  • Preferred: Aldar approval or equivalent local industry recognition
  • Preferred: Additional certifications such as IOSH, CMIOSH, or equivalent advanced qualifications
