Job Description
AECOM is one of the world’s leading infrastructure consulting firms, bringing together a comprehensive portfolio of building services and engineering expertise across a wide range of sectors. Our projects span world-class sporting venues, commercial developments, healthcare and research facilities, hotels, industrial and manufacturing environments, and major infrastructure schemes throughout the UK and increasingly overseas.
Building Services Electrical Engineers work closely with multidisciplinary design teams to deliver innovative, sustainable, and cost-effective solutions that meet both project briefs and budget requirements. We collaborate extensively with colleagues across Architecture, Environment, Transportation, Project Management, and other specialist disciplines, enabling us to provide fully integrated solutions for our clients.
If you are passionate about engineering, interested in improving the built environment, and eager to apply your technical knowledge to real-world projects, we would love to hear from you.
Our teams deliver expert electrical engineering solutions across all aspects of building services design, including:
- High- and low-voltage power distribution systems
- Incoming utilities and electrical infrastructure
- Standby generation and UPS/resilient power solutions
- Renewable and low-carbon energy systems
- Power and lighting design
- Fire alarm systems
- Security and integrated building systems
As part of a global organisation, you will have opportunities to build connections regionally, nationally, and internationally, while contributing to a diverse and exciting portfolio of projects.
Examples of projects the Building Services team are involved in include:
- Healthcare: AECOM is a leading award-winning consultant for the NHS in the UK and internationally, delivering projects ranging from major acute hospitals to primary care and estate refurbishment schemes, while supporting the NHS Net Zero Carbon agenda.
- Decarbonisation: Multiple projects where we have undertaken the feasibility of the removal of boilers and installation of Air Source and Water source heat pumps to provide the heating and cooling for the building. Projects include commercial buildings like 80 – 100 Victoria Street London, British Library, multiple residential buildings in the Royal Borough of Greenwich and even Windsor Castle.

Our team are providing multi-discipline services including MEP, civil & structural, vertical transportation, energy & sustainability, acoustics, air quality, ecology, transport, waste management, and façade engineering.
- Data Centres: Working for multiple major hyperscale projects in the Nordics, Iberia and South America. These projects provide the opportunity to tackle the issue of data management and storage specific to each country. Designing and implementing a highly resilient electrical infrastructure entails the usage of an efficient system that is highly sustainable.
- Lansdowne House: High-end commercial office development occupying the South-East side of Berkley Square, Mayfair, City of Westminster, with an all- electric energy centre containing Ground Source Heat Pumps, Air Source Heat Pumps and High Efficiency Chillers.
