Job Description
AECOM Mississauga is seeking a Civil Project Coordinator – Transit & Rail to join our team in Mississauga, ON. This is a full-time position involving a full-time secondment to a railway client’s office, five days per week.
This is a newly created role.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Provide project coordination and technical support for civil infrastructure projects on behalf of railway clients.
- Work as part of the client’s team, supporting the day-to-day coordination, review, and delivery of transit and rail projects.
- Perform day-to-day review of project submissions, work orders, engineering designs, drawings, specifications, reports, and other technical documentation on behalf of railway clients.
- Review engineering designs and construction documentation for compliance with applicable railway standards, requirements, and project specifications.
- Prepare and review designs, technical specifications, bid documents, work orders, and other project documentation on behalf of railway clients.
- Coordinate project activities and support project managers with routine and non-routine project requirements.
- Attend project meetings and prepare meeting minutes, action items, and related documentation.
- Monitor project costs, budgets, schedules, and progress of work.
- Prepare weekly and monthly project status reports.
- Review drawings, reports, contractor shop drawings, technical submissions, and other project documentation.
- Set up new projects and track monthly billing.
- Prepare project schedules and monitor progress against established milestones.
- Review and compile client submissions and project documentation.
- Collect and analyze technical and project data under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
- Conduct site visits as required to review project conditions, construction activities, and progress.
- Use engineering and project management software to support project delivery and solve engineering problems.
- Perform work in accordance with agreed-upon budgets and schedules under appropriate supervision.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering plus 2 years of heavy civil engineering experience.
- Valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle.
- Ability to work full-time from the client’s office in Mississauga, five days per week, and travel to project sites as required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Understanding of railway rules, regulations, safety requirements, and operating procedures.
- 1+ year of transit and/or railway experience.
- Project coordination experience.
- Experience working on-site, including construction supervision, surveying, compaction monitoring/testing, or similar activities.
- Project management experience would be an asset.
- Experience with the design and/or review of engineering plans, drawings, and specifications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively and professionally within a client environment.
- Strong interpersonal, negotiation, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure and manage competing priorities.
- Detail-oriented, with strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
