Job Description
The Team Lead reports to the Global Collections SDL in the Center and is an active member of the Europe Global Business Services (GBS) Collections leadership team. The Team Lead engages with finance and operational personnel to deliver results in alignment with Europe financial targets primarily focused on billing, cash and DSO. The primary responsibility of the Collections Lead is to drive performance, implement policy change and manage collection resource to support the Europe business lines. This role is responsible for supporting and implementing continuous improvement and requires a client-focused mind-set as well as strong analytical and organizational skills.
Role responsibilities:
- Drives collection activity against predefined targets linking closely across all end markets and business lines to balance performance
- Manages daily collection activities involving monitoring of team’s tasks and provides support in driving the completion of assigned end-to-end collections process.
- Acts as first level escalation point for critical issue resolution and ensures that queries, concerns, and escalations are addressed on a timely manner. Responsible for escalating the issues further as and when necessary.
- Develops strong stakeholder relationship and collaborates with Project Managers, internal and external stakeholders to achieve customer satisfaction.
- Provides guidance in the process and maintains an excellent standard of quality work.
- Ensures there is a suitable segregation of duties within the team, meeting all control requirements.
- Reviews the accuracy of the process and recommends elimination of potential risk that may have business and/or financial impact.
- Contributes with technical expertise and experience to engage team collaboration, address knowledge gaps, and improve efficiency.
- Implements strategies based on accurate and meaningful data reports and analysis and/or keen observations.
- Identifies and analyzes complex issues and recommends solutions or alternatives.
- Leads short term projects and supports medium to long term projects contributing to long term initiatives planning.
- Leads and/or participates in various governance meetings to discuss operational results, issues, strategies, and solutions to improve team’s performance with internal/external stakeholders.
- Conducts performance management activities based on prescribed cadence. These activities may include team meetings, coaching sessions, and midyear/annual performance review, etc.
- Leads, manages and executes transition-related activities such as FTE allocation, training delivery, DTP writing, hyper care monitoring, and lead/participate in transition governance meetings to ensure successful and timely transition completion.
- Recommends resource planning solutions for changing resource loading and work volumes. May be involved in recruiting activities as needed.
- Sets performance and behavioral expectations. Conducts regular reviews, provides feedback and coaching, and other developmental, training and learning opportunity plans to ensure the success of the individuals within the team.
- Interacts with Operational personnel regarding matters related to collection activity to maximise performance.
- Has a constant collaboration and interactions with the onshore Working Capital Management Team regarding matters related to collections activity
- Ensures the appliance of the standard processes across all sub-regions and ensures consistent performance.
- Manages a Collections Team including periods of planned and unplanned leave.
- Motivates and appraises a Collections Team including target and goal setting.
- Implements career development to Collections Teams including both internal and external CPD.
- Participates as a member of the Europe Collections strategy team and works with the Global Collections SDL to implement strategies and drive objectives for the Europe GBS collections organisation.
- Promotes and implements an environment that maximises productivity and service effectiveness, professional development, open communication, and teamwork.
- Assists the Global Collections SDL in the delivery of the team’s results in alignment with Europe’s financial targets.
- Ensures full compliance with Sarbanes Oxley controls.
Qualifications
- 3+ years experience in AR Collections managing teams with exposure to different complementary projects such as process transitions, enhancement related projects or any other additional activities.
- Ability to actively engage stakeholders, clients, and staff to ensure processes are implemented and executed consistently.
- Ability to manage and motivate a diverse workforce.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and to deliver to tight deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills – must have strong conversational English.
- Experience with Oracle or similar ERP system preferably but not essential.
- Sarbanes Oxley experience is a plus.
