Job Description
AECOM Enterprise Capabilities is seeking a Structural Engineer with demonstrated expertise in the structural design of transportation infrastructure facilities, including airports, railway systems, metro and BRT stations, maintenance facilities, operational buildings, electrical substations, and other transportation-related structures, to join its Bogotá, Colombia office.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Participate in the structural design of transportation infrastructure facilities, including airports, railway systems, metro and BRT stations, maintenance workshops, operational buildings, electrical substations, and related infrastructure through the development of structural analysis models, engineering calculations, technical reports, and design documentation.
- Perform structural design of reinforced concrete and structural steel systems of buildings and civil works, considering operational loads, dynamic effects where applicable, serviceability, durability, constructability, and lifecycle performance. Ensures that project technical goals/milestones/ budgets are met
- Works independently with latitude to determine work priorities and receives guidance on overall project objectives
- Performs technical quality reviews including documentation in project record in accordance with policies and procedures
- Serves as Lead Verifier on projects confirming that the technical approach satisfies the client scope of services and expectations
- Engages with project technical teams within field of expertise to confirm project approach and review deliverables
- Use client credibility gained from delivering high-quality technical services to expand work assignments
- Communicates with clients to discuss work scope, request information to support project execution, and receive client comments on draft work products
- Develops solutions to complex and challenging issues using standard methodologies as a basis and defining new procedures as needed
- Collaborate constructively with multidisciplinary teams construction disciplines, to ensure successful project delivery.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with +6 years of relevant experience (YORE) or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
- Minimum of 6 years of proven technical experience in structural engineering, with a focus on the design of concrete and steel structures, in accordance with international standards and within multidisciplinary teams.
- Solid knowledge of structural analysis and design principles for reinforced concrete and steel structures used in buildings and civil work projects.
- Familiarity with international structural design codes and standards such as ACI, AISC, ASCE, IBC, AREMA, AASHTO, Eurocodes, CSA, or equivalent,
- Proficiency in structural analysis software such as SAP2000, ETABS, SAFE, MIDAS Civil, CSiBridge, STAAD.Pro, IdeaStatica, RAM Connection, or similar software. Experience with AutoCAD and BIM platforms is desirable
- Advanced technical English.
- Fluent English, both written and spoken.
Preferred Requirements
- Experience in the structural analysis and design of transportation infrastructure facilities, including airport terminals, railway stations, metro stations, BRT stations, maintenance workshops, operational buildings, electrical substations, parking structures, and similar facilities.
- Experience performing technical reviews and quality assurance (QA/QC) of structural calculations, drawings, and specifications.
- Experience evaluating alternative structural systems and providing recommendations based on constructability, cost, schedule, and risk.
- Experience supporting proposals, client meetings, and technical presentations.
- Experience identifying and mitigating technical risks throughout project execution.
- Experience delivering projects under Design-Bid-Build and Design-Build delivery methods.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
- English Level: B2• Senior technical resource may serve as technical advisor for team
• Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise.
• Develops study and design procedures to facilitate high quality cost effective work by others.
• Participates in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables.
• Develops construction cost estimates and estimates of technical efforts for projects.
• Uses expertise in all steps of completing discipline component of PS&E package.
• Performs quality control review of design calculations or drawings.
• Prepares technical specification sections.
• Provides input to the development of engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements.
