Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Senior ServiceNow Architect to define and drive the technical direction of our global ServiceNow platform. This role will serve as the senior technical authority for platform architecture, solution design, engineering standards, and long-term scalability.

You will partner with platform leadership, engineers, enterprise architects, security teams, business stakeholders, and strategic vendors to modernize capabilities and deliver secure, scalable, and maintainable solutions. This is an opportunity to shape a critical enterprise platform, influence high-impact decisions, and advance automation, AI, and digital employee experiences across a global organization.

This position will offer flexibility for hybrid work schedules to include both in-office presence and telecommute/virtual work, to be based from either Houston or Dallas, TX.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architectural Strategy: Define the enterprise ServiceNow technical roadmap, design standards, governance controls, and reusable solution patterns.
  • Solution Design: Lead the architecture and technical design of complex ServiceNow implementations, integrations, workflows, and platform enhancements.
  • Platform Health & Governance: Champion scalable, upgrade-safe solutions by promoting out-of-the-box capabilities while minimizing unnecessary customization and reducing technical debt.
  • Integration Architecture: Guide data and integration architecture across ServiceNow, CMDB, service mapping, IntegrationHub, MID Server, APIs, and connected enterprise systems.
  • Innovation & AI: Evaluate and guide the adoption of modern capabilities including Now Assist, AI-enabled workflows, advanced analytics, and enterprise self-service.
  • Technical Leadership: Advise platform leadership and business stakeholders while providing mentorship and architectural guidance to developers, engineers, and implementation partners.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree plus at least 10 years of ServiceNow experience, including 2 years of leadership experience, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Experience defining ServiceNow architecture, technical standards, governance models, and scalable solution patterns within large, complex enterprise environments.
  • Experience leading the technical design and implementation of enterprise ServiceNow solutions, integrations, workflows, and platform enhancements.
  • Advanced knowledge of ServiceNow technologies, including JavaScript, Glide APIs, Flow Designer, IntegrationHub, REST APIs, MID Server, UI Builder, and Service Portal.
  • Experience across multiple ServiceNow capabilities, such as ITSM, ITOM, ITAM, HRSD, CMDB, Employee Center, Service Portals, or workflow automation.
  • Strong understanding of upgrade-safe design, platform performance, security, operational resilience, and technical debt reduction.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate architectural decisions, influence stakeholders, and provide technical leadership across internal teams and external partners.
  • Due to the nature of this position, U.S. citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience serving as a lead architect or senior technical authority for an enterprise ServiceNow platform.
  • Experience leading ServiceNow modernization, transformation, platform maturity, or technical debt reduction initiatives.
  • ServiceNow certifications such as Certified Technical Architect, Certified Master Architect, Certified Application Developer, Certified System Administrator, or Certified Implementation Specialist.
  • Experience with Now Assist, AI-enabled workflows, enterprise automation, analytics, or self-service modernization.
  • Experience with Automated Test Framework, platform performance optimization, architecture reviews, and upgrade planning.
  • Experience supporting a large-scale, global, or highly matrixed ServiceNow environment.
